I go for a beer occasionally with a chap who drinks something called "Golden". It's basically a 50:50 mix of Lager and Bitter in a pint glass. Now - I should add that I live in Warrington and my theory is it's some oddball thing perculiar to the area 'cos I've never heard of it in my time in either Stoke or up in Lancashire.
Or have I just missed something?

Tastes nicer than it sounds. As Lord Eff says Bitter and Lager mixed is known as 'Micky Mouse' in most places.
Never heard of it been called 'golden'. If you order a pint of golden in the pubs around Stoke then the barmaid would probably piss on ya!
