I'm still quite deflated about the Hull perfromance/result. I know we are in a strong position in the league with a brassy tart of an FA cup tie at the weekend BUT Tuesday I found really deflating. There was something familiar about the lack of creativity and we don't want to go back to that. Hopefully we can get the faces in and get the right results to re-inflate me!

Im right behind them joe but, one things for sure, we definitely AREN'T a promotion side as we stand - yesterday cruelly exposed that - we simply have nothing of substance behind the first eleven.
On our day we can beat anybody - but we're too thin squad wise
No Fuller and we quite simply had nothing up front any team would fear in the championship (probably not in league 1 either)
Diao will improve midifield but Cresswell and Lawrence will run out of steam again (like they did yesterday) because its a case of two men trying to do 4 mens running up and down the pitch (in midfield that is).
central defence and the goalie is sound but again we are reliant upon inexpereinced young lads to back up the real pros in the side
Its a shame but true - some deadwood to go and some better new faces to come in or, like as not, we will peter out like last season

i agree, the hull performance was awful, in the 2nd half we didnt even try to do anything. The only plus point was Delaps much improved performance.
i am very cocerned that Pulis is now talking down transfer activity and in exaclty the same way he did when he couldnt sign anyone during the last transfer window.
seems to me he will wait till the last week of jan to pick up a bargain but by then all the decent players will have gone already just as he did last transfer window, the one before that and the one before that.

Agree Joe, two things though.... Fuller has to be an integral part of our run in. It is clear we are nothing (seriously) without him. A GOOD dip into the transfer market is truly necessary. We are lightweight now in a couple of departments.
We should have beaten Hull, but it's not the end of the road by a long way. Still we must realise sooner or later we cannot continue squandering such easily available 3 points on offer.

The result yesterday has put me down a little. I was very happy with the 2 points picked up from Barnsley and Plymouth, both are difficult places to go to, especially over the xmas period. But we really had an opportunity yesterday to make those points count and create a bit of a gap between us and 5th. Back to the agony of the transfer window now checking every 5 minutes to see if we've been linked with anyone. Come on Stoke, lets get it right!

Its a concern that we are now obviously so dependent on Fuller.

Yep Joe, and it's a concern that our style of play is so obviously manufactured to accommodate Pulis' favourite guy Sidders as well.

One thing thats a letdown is that going into the Newcastle game on the back of a home win would have given it an extra special buzz. It would have proved a lovely distraction but now we go into it with a little could developing. Ah well, we'll all survive I suppose.

I'm trying to be positive but if people keep posting to say "he has done miracles with this squad" I am going to have to start posting to say a) It's HIS squad ( he's been here 4 out of the last 5 seasons!) b) Look what Johnson has done with THAT squad at Bristol
I am more than content with our current league position but I really don't think we can sustain it in the second half of the season with what we have - imagine injuries/suspensions to Fuller, Lawrence or Delap (for the long throws at least.) I expect QPR and Palace to go on a run and Watford to solidify so draws won't be good enough.
I think all that people are saying is "Thanks for what you have done so far but don't piss about like you have in the past and make sure you improve the squad cause we have a real chance this season".

Its a big concern that one player makes all the difference but Fuller certainly does. The bench is quite frightening to hear read out...almost div 1 standard. We have been quite lucky with injuries so far but a couple of bad ones to key players or suspensions and we will see more performances like Hull. Yes a big well done to Pulis so far, out of very little he has produced a winning team, but its a team built on dodgy foundations and he really must find 2/3 better quality players to give us more options otherwise It could be deja vu.
