4PM UPDATE: STOKE'S FA CUP TICKET SALES NEAR 20,000-MARK Be the first reader to comment on this story STOKE City have revealed they have sold almost 20,000 tickets for Sunday's eagerly anticipated FA Cup clash against Newcastle United at the Britannia Stadium. With just days to go before the big third-round kick-off, Stoke have sold 16,500 home tickets so far. The Premiership outfit have sold a further 3,000 of their allocation, but City's chief executive Tony Scholes believes this will rise to around the 4,000-mark. Scholes said: "Ticket sales have been going really well and we are expecting a crowd considerably over 20,000. "That will be fantastic especially as the BBC are covering the game live." Stoke believe they will pocket at least £250,000 from the game, including £150,000 in television revenue and they are also set to receive a 45 per cent cut of the gate receipts. Scholes added: "Tickets are selling day-by-day and if people are wishing to come along I would advise them to come and purchase them as soon as possible to ensure they get the best choice of seats." Tickets for the Newcastle tie will not be available to buy on the day of the game - fans have until 5.30pm on Saturday to buy their tickets from Stoke City's ticket office. Pretty piss poor that

the attendance will be about 23,500 which isnt too bad considering its on BBC I know its on BBC fella but thats dissapointing that only 16,500 stoke fans will be there...i was expecting another Everton attendance. If another championship team would have pulled Newcastle out the hat, i think the vast majority would still sell more than we have(even on TV)

16,500 for a game against Newcastle is embarrassing. There are plenty of Championship clubs hitting over 20,000 week in week out.

The Everton game kicked off at a reasonable time of day, the Newcastle game kicks off at a ridiculous time of day. I’d imagine many exiles can’t make it.

I expected us to sell around 20,000-21,000 and Newcastle around 4,000. So I originally hoped for a 24,000-25,000 crowd.
Following the latest information I guestimate that our portion of the attendance will now be around 17,000 (I reckon we will only sell another 500 tickets) therefore I reckon the crowd will be around 20,000-21,000.
Not the best really for a city club against big Premier League opposition in the cup.

SKY games will always affect gates (everywhere) more than a BBC game for the very simple reeason that for many (over 50%?) of the Stoke supporting nation dont have SKY & the choice between watching it live or watching it in the pub isnt as simple as being able to watch in your own house.
+ Newcastle arnt as enticing as Chelsea were under Ranieri.
26500 - wont be a million miles of that,23500 seems OK to me.
If we do only get 20000 or so then thats not on but lets wait till we know what the crowd is before we slaughter the supporters.

???How the fook do we only get 45% of the gate receipts for a HOME game?! I know it's FA Cup and that teams share the receipts but we get less than half?!

Whilst the club have done well in putting on the works for the game with all the cards and mascots and all that, they could go a long way to getting 20,000 stoke fans there by buying a couple of players of good quality, adding to the likely involvement of Fuller and Diao. TP won't want to reveal his full hand yet, but whilst the 'floaters' think that Diao to a certain extent and Fuller definately, may not play they won't sell many more than what they have.

45% each and 10% to the FA.

Chelsea only brought 3.5k for that game. The home stands were virtually full. It was the fifth round though.

45% of a 50K crowd would be nice if we got a replay. Plus if it was a good game on Sunday it might be in the tele again.
