The transfer window has re-opened after a three month stop on transfers and that has, as per usual, signalled some pretty spurious speculation across the country.
Here we will attempt to keep you up to date with all the latest Stoke rumours taken from the newspapers, message boards and down at the Brit.
If you hear any yourself then please use the Your Say facility to let us know and we'll chase them up. And the TEAMtalk staff will even rate each rumour based on how likely we think it is to happen.
Glenn Whelan - The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder has long been linked with a move to City and there were reports we saw a £1million bid rejected earlier in the season. He's out of contract at the end of the season, though, and is refusing to sign a new deal. The 23-year-old is widely expected to leave Hillsborough this month and a cut-price move to the Potteries would come as no surprise. Rating: 4/5.
Nigel Quashie - Another midfielder who's name has consistently cropped up on the Potters' reported 'wanted lists'. Well out of favour at West Ham and credits City boss Tony Pulis with saving his career following the death of his young son in 2008. Would cost more, both in wages and transfer fee, than Whelan but it looks likely that one or the other will arrive at the Brit. Rating 3/5.
Calum Davenport - 25-year-old defender, also of West Ham, who looks likely to leave Upton Park this month. The Potters have only recently bought Leon Cort but their defensive troubles have continued and Davenport is the most likely player to arrive should Pulis seek an answer. A host of Championship clubs have shown an interest in the centre-half in the past but Stoke are one that would not baulk at the likely-£1million asking price. Rating 4/5.
Wayne Routledge - This is one rumour that just refuses to go away. Pulis is believed to have tried for him on loan in the summer but the Tottenham winger was unwilling to move away from London. Stoke's superb form could persuade him to change his mind but Crystal Palace are sniffing around and a move to Selhurst Park would make far more sense. Rating: 2/5.
Andy Griffin - The former Potters trainee turned down the chance to return to the Brit in the summer following a successful loan spell, instead moving to Derby. Things have not worked out for the full-back in the Premier League, though, and there have been suggestions he could be on his way out. Stranger things have happened but this looks like idle gossip to me. Rating 1/5.
Simon Whaley - Danny Pugh has already sealed a move to Stoke and his Preston team-mate could well follow him to the Potteries. Was thought to be keen on joining Pulis' side when their interest first became apparent in August but then-boss Paul Simpson blocked the move. It has been a reported a £500k bid has now been made, though, and new manager Alan Irvine may decide to let the winger go this time around. Rating: 3/5.
Robbie Savage - Mark Hughes has said he wants to keep him at Blackburn but the midfielder has struggled to hold down a first team place at Ewood Park and is thought to be keen on a move. A Premier League move looks likely - Sunderland are favourites - but Stoke's close proximity to Savage's Wrexham home would make the Potters a viable destination should the 33-year-old opt to drop a division. Rating: 2/5.
Robert Earnshaw - The diminutive frontman has barely kicked a ball in anger for Derby this season and there have been rumblings the Potters may have made tentitive enquiries. A loan move for the 26-year-old does seem likely but his size would render him one of Pulis' more unusual signings. And there would be competition should City make a move. Rating: 2/5.

We definetly need a fox in the box and earnshaw would do well there, a few times yesterday we were crying out for somebody to gamble and hit the 6 yard box when a ball dropped in there.

Northwich...Cresswell can play that role very well. But then we need to bring in a wide man to fill his current role.

We could do with a new Goalkeeper to add to that list. Simmo is a good close range shot stopper be he can't read long shots or crosses

In other words, these are the rumours circulating and then commented on by the editor as to how realistic or likely they are to happen.
There is no pretence from Homzy when writing that article that he 'is in the know'. He is basically passing comment on the likelihood of some of the players, mentioned on this board and elsewhere, joining Stoke.
Nothing more, nothing less.....nowhere does he say 'X player will definitely sign'.....he is saying how likely the deals are from where he see's it.

Redandwhite we have Pugh who will do a decent job at left wing and also the pacey tricky left winger in Demar Phillips, thats 2 options already and put Cresswell where he should be upfront because Sidibe,Pericard,Parkin are not good enough or fit enough and won't score goals. Cresswell will even more in right position!!!
Come on Pulis do the right thing and don't let people have an easy oppurtunity to turn on you again.
We have pissed around enough now with that lot and yesterday proved AGAIN they are not up to it!

Jesus Christ 'wheresalif' calm yourself down! If you read the article you will see that it talks about "spurious speculation" - it's simply bringing together the rumours that have been seen in the "newspapers, message boards and down at the Brit." The Robbie Savage rumour is rated at 2/5 and it says in it Sunderland are favourites to land him so have a Kit Kat mate!

jarhead,
Pugh is too 'samey' to Lawro on the opposite wing for me personally.
I think he is quite a competent LB when we're attacking, though his defensive capabilities are becoming more and more into question.
I thought he may have had a go in the middle over this hectic period in order to provide relief for the current 2 - clearly not.
I think we need someone else in the forward line personally - in the Mifsud mould ideally.

would love to see Earnshaw at stoke, he would add something different to our forward line, he doesn't get in the Derby squad at the moment, i reckon he would guarantee us around 7-10 goals from now till the end of the season.
