Didn't Wimbledon leave London for MK because they didn't own their own ground and had no fans? Well they used to get about 7,000 before the move was confirmed and about 2,500 after. They mustered about 2,500 yesterday (taking our lot out) - anf by all accounts many 'home' fans are freebies for kids etc. They're now in administration, a certainty to go down, in a ground they don't own and a town where they're clearly not wanted with less fans than ever. What a great day it will be when they fold altogether leaving AFC Wimbledon to carry on the name. It's just a shame it's from 7 divisions down!

Why move to Milton Keyenes indeed? It has reduced the crowds to an even lower point than they were at Selhurst Park and has turned 99% of football against them.
The only answer I could think of is that they think they'll make more money when they eventually own their own ground (didn't they cite being tenants at Selhurst as one of the reasons for needing to move) and I expect they thought they'd eventually start to get bigger crowds once they were settled in.
However, they're now in administration and bottom of the league so they could be on the slippery slope to oblivion. Prospect for their future well-being does not look good does it!

Many people in places like Milton Keynes support London clubs. Either that or Man Yoo or Liverpool. They support these teams and do the gloryhunter thing but there was never any guarantee that they would change clubs. For example, the Potteries has plenty of gloryhunting vermin for whom attending games would be cheaper and les troublesome than it is now, yet they continue to pedal their sycophantic filth. Its the same for the Southern ones.
The idea that moving to MK would generate more support was fundamentally flawed from the start. I'm not being wise after the event. I made the same points in posts in May 2002.

While we were at the game yesterday, we were told that the current plans for Milton Keynes Dons (and how much do you want to bet that they change their name to that during the summer?) were planning to build a new stadium in Bletchley - about five miles down the road - and it was going to have a capacity of 28,000.
Somebody has lost touch with reality here!

They should change their name to Manchester United most people in Milton Keynes probably support them anyway.Bloody stupid idea anyway to move there and very soon I think they will just disappear.

I forget the details but it's all to do with a property development that their chairman, Koppell, is involved with.
In the way that the Brit was used to attract businesses to Trentham Lakes, they wanted a football stadium to attract business to their development in MK.
Only trouble is, MK didn't have a football club. So they stole one.
Charming.
Moving a football club in an attempt to find a crowd would be bad enough. The real reasons are just despicable.
Now that most of the real Dons fans have moved on, I hope 'MK Dons' disappears ASAP. But thanks for the 6 points.

It;s interesting to note that a lot of businesses in Milton Keynes are having precisely nothing to do with Charlie Koppel's team who are, lets face it, more of a tribute band than the real Wilmbledon.
Incidentally, I had the mispleasure of going to Redditch for the first time today.
It's like a poor man's Milton Keynes. Only, it's full of Brummies.
Christ, it was scary.

And don't forget there was an unofficial Stoke attendance in the away end. It was an interesting sight seeing more Stokies queue at one of their turnstiles than Dons!
