Its about time for that signing thats going to 'rock the city' methinks
remenber that one ?
c'mon stoke lets see you surprise everyone and really go for it this time.
This league is so evenly matched its not true - just a slight improvement can tip things
I await with interest
ps it will be interesting to see the turnout at a club 4th in our league AND on a bank holiday shortly
sod the glamour tie next weekend - the match againt Hull is far more important in my book.
lets see if the supporters play their part too eh ?

Yeah, but it might be cold. Hangovers will be plentifull. Everybody skint from xmas.
Cant afford go the Hull match AND the Newcastle match.
Plus the usual excuses that you hear.
All of which can be easily countered:
Yeah, but it might be cold = Wear more clothes. Hangovers will be plentifull = Drink less Everybody skint from xmas = Budget better.
See, easy.

Point is -we should be Showing Peter Coates that, if he invests we will back him !
our attendances this season have been releatively poor and need to improve dramatically to get our averages back to recent previous seasons (16,500) - I would expect new signings early in january -not at the death and, our averages to climb from the current 14,315 to much more like the previous averages i.e. well above 16,000
starting - new years day!
dont forget we owe these gits one ,for the flukey goal (off BUMBOYS knee, right at the death) that almost certainly robbed us off a playoff place last season !

Problem is, some people still wont watch Stoke while Pulis is in charge.
Example, one of my uncles had a season ticket every season for about 15yrs. He stopped when Pulis was re-appointed. Refuses point blank to go 'while that useless wanker is in charge'.
I asked him only this past afternoon if he'll come with us doing well. His reply? 'Not while that useless wanker is in charge'.
he's not the only one.

in my book such folk are categorised as
'thick as shit' and 'not stoke city supporters anymore'
pure and simple

Thats where it gets silly. Here we are with the possibility of reaching the biggest prize of all and some can't get over themselves and turn up.

Right, so somebody who has an opinion and sticks to it is a twat?
I dont agree with him not going and supporting the team. When you work weekends and getting the time off is near impossible not a lot you can do.
Id rather not have Pulis as our manager, the football aint exactly pretty. Were all just used to it now.
I dare say he feels pretty gutted about not going but he made his bed now he has to live with it. Which in itself deserves repect in these fickle times.

its all about supporting a BLOODY FOOTBALL TEAM - not the manager, an individual player or the bloody chairman.
Those 'hand wringing excuse ridden apologist non supporters' who, choose to stay away for silly personalised blinkered small minded opinions are not worth a damn in my book.
and yes - thats my opinion too -and I'll do and think exactly WHAT I WANT TO -------------- kapeesh!
As for my team - STOKE CITY it far is better off without such people - I just hope they dont come back infesting the place, like a bunch of sad gloryhunters when we do hit the bigtime.
You mentioned your uncle -I dont want to be personal, - it applies to all such misguided fools and idiots in my book

Yes, i think they are, you support the team, not the manager, a team that is in the play offs, and on a fantastic run (9 unbeaten) and people like you uncle don't want go, cause of some manager. If he does go again ring the club up, and tell them get the violin's out for when he enters the ground

I cant believe you used the word Kapeesh! ;D
Believe me, he gets some stick from myself, my old man and another uncle who still have season tickets.
I know the point you make, the cheap ticket matches for example when they crawl from the sofa then moan about the football, sit slagging players off for 90mins, moan about how expensive the beer/food is.
Either come and support or dont come. The Newcastle match will see thousands of them!

Then in my book he aint a fan just a twat, making the team pay over his politics Tell him go down vale they need all the support they can get. I didnt make it up. So nerr!! I dont get upset , im amused. I enjoy some late night 'discussion'. People with varying opinions. Although i do agree with you both on some points. But i dont appriciate having a family member slagged off. I think thats understandable.

well fair do's its better we all cool down, as for me, I'll be there on new years day for the real match of the week.
My choice is to save the drive down from warrington on sunday and watch the 'waste of time' that is the FA cup - on the TV (leaves room in the ground for the local curios and part timers to enjoy their annual few minutes of glory anyways.)
As for the FA CUP many on here already know I feel its a waste of time - I still hope they win though -but, the important match is the HULL game - and we should all be busting a gut to get to that one and, all other remaining league games (IMHO)
Meanwhile, back to the points = stoke SHOULD be announcing new players VERY shortly and our real fans should be backing the club even more, through the turnstiles for league games
my original points made

If Stoke were to get promoted under Pulis and these stay away fans don't attend premiership matches as Pulis is in charge, not even against the big 4 if they charged lower admission prices, then Stoke got relegated 2 seasons in a row leading them to league 1 and Pulis gets the sack then the fans start returning, then I'd let them off for sticking to their word

I can't blame the folk for not going at the start of the season when the club failed to invest but given the great results of late it's time for people to get themselves down to the Brit.
I have heard of several people who have recently been to games for the first time in years and (whatsmore) enjoyed themselves. We are likely to lose games but as long as there isn't a major slump and people are feeling entertained then the crowds will return. A big name player could put 2k extra on the gate each week but I agree with TP that he needs to get someone who is the right fit for the current squad.

Surely if we stay up near the top and continue to win games and we get into the second half of the season with a chance of getting the big one supporters will come. Surely.
Mind you I thought that in 1996 and they didn't then.
