er no not really!, if anything the guy deserves a run in the side along side fuller and will prob score more than mama.perhaps mama runs miles in a game but parkin is 6yd box player which is what we are missing.

The Beast's clearly a talented and skillful footballer - it's his attitude that holds him back. He still doesn't look fit, and on the rare occasions he starts he doesn't look all that interested.
It's a shame, because when he's motivated he's a real asset.

Mama is an integral part of the way Pulis plays. Unless he's prepared to change his system then Parkin will have to sit on the sidelines. There's no way he can play Mama's role. We've seen how bad he plays in that position in the past. I can't see why so many people are complaining about Mama. Our 'goals for' would suggest that the problems are not with the forwards even if Mama isn't scoring.

He's not played for his goals, but for his workrate and his ability to cause problems. Allardyce's Bolton used Kevin Davies in this way, Wigan (and England) have used Heskey in a similar way.
The problem has been that Mama hasn't been performing that well in the last couple of games. Maybe it is time he had a rest and was used as an impact sub from the bench.

well i think it is. he is just shit and lazy, he was on abit of a run last year on loan.
we all have diffrent views.
i would rather see fuller and sidibe or rooney.
pulis needs to go for a premiership striker on loan to play alongside fuller.
scott sinclair, sharp (ino not from prem but could be a good target), frazier campbell, matt derbyshire, robert earnshaw etc

He is a pretty good player but IMO is seriously lacking match fitness, only the obvious will put that right..
If after the new players arrive (hopefully a pacey striker included) a loan period will allow him to get games under his belt, and return looking and playing like we were expecting from him when he first arrived at the Brit..

if pulis gets some wingers in in jan i think he'll be perfect back up to a fuller/cresswell partnership he played well at the end of last season when we had wide players the trouble now is that cresswell even though hes done fantastic he does tend to come inside more than hitting the byline and crossing the ball in parkin to be effective needs the ball into feet in the 6to18 yard box
i said wingers because if given the chance id like to see lawrence in CM with Diao

In most games, when he plays, it seems that whenever the ball goes up to him, he loses it! Parkin is definitely a penalty box player...remember the goals he scored for us last year...all excellent finishes, and one or two special ones. These were all created for him by the likes of Fuller with a lot of help from Hendrie etc. Lay them on a plate and he'll score...unlike Mama...but Mama suits the way we play a lot more than Parkin as we are not a fluent footballing side. Mama will chase down a clearance or a loose ball in behind much better. Perhaps if they mate we can have the player we are after?!  Catch 22 anyone? |

The only way he could do that is by bringing Cresswell inside to play Mama's role. Parkin can't play it but Cresswell possibly could. That would then leave him with a problem on the left wing. Given his propensity to play square pegs in round holes, he'd probably put Parkin there. I'd leave things as they are because we are scoring regularly. If we weren't, I would drop Mama and change the system to a proper 4-4-2 with Parkin or Cresswell up front with Fuller.

It'll depend if we sign a ball-playing midfielder during the window. Last season, during Parkin's loan spell, we kept it on the deck a bit more and he was able to flourish - he wasn't expected to play the Mama role in the same way.
Hopefully there's a chance this will happen again, although the aimless punts up to Parkin earlier in the season don't have me too hopeful, admittedly.

boothenboy yes i could work harder for the team! because if i wasnt scoring i would have to show something worth my selection! he aint been working hard at all the last few games, and the point is 26 games no goals! hes a striker ffs!
