Plenty of forwards are used not for their goal threat but for the graft they put in and the problems they cause defenders. Mama needs to score more, yes it's a problem, but how anyone can say he's useless is beyond me. There's a lot more to it than "striker! score goals! end of!" oversimplicity.

Look at our statistics. Are goals really a problem? We've scored 5 in the last 2 away games, scored 3 in our last home game. We're the second highest scorer in the division. The defence is where our problem is and if you can't see that and can't come up with a better argument than just saying 'he's a useless prick' then you should give up.

26 games no goals! useless prick!

So you keep saying Deano.
What about the points we've raised about:
1) His value to the team and the way we play. 2) The fact that we miss him when he doesn't play 3) The argument that in today's game numerous forwards are utilised not for their goals but for their all round play?

didnt go yesterday but someones report was "sidibe shit"! i went against barnsley and sidibe was awful, his all round play as gone, i used to accept him not scoring because he contributed well with link up play, holding up and generally being a nuicanse to defenders! but these last dozen matches everything as gone from his game, he is offering nothing to the team and if you can honestly say he is then i suggest you open your eyes at the games instead of sitting with your rose sidibe tainted glasses on!

26 games no goals! useless prick! That argument is of no merit whatsoever unless you develop it. The facts are this: 1) We perform poorly without Sidibe 2) Sidibe helps the defence from corners(most times when we concede from corners, Sidibe has already been substituted) 3) Fuller frequently states that he WANTS to play with Sidibe and that he is his PREFERRED partner. 4) We have absolutely no problem with goalscoring right now. We're getting bucketloads. 5) He holds the team together.

Deano - I agree he's been poor the last couple of games. I was taking issue with your suggestion that he's generally "useless" simply because he doesn't score, when this clearly isn't the case.

Fair dos, Sidibe hasn't been at his best lately but his arm is still nowhere near fixed. It makes it a lot harder to compete. Even with this though, you must have noticed the difference with when Sidibe was on and off the pitch again, for example, West Brom. West Brom may be crap at attacking (Scunthorpe rolling over for them yesterday kinda ruins that though), but with Sidibe off and Parkin on, we sustained a lot more pressure. With Sidibe on, the ball stayed in their half.

mystical thats bollox, ive never heard fuller say he wants to play with mama and its his preferred choice of partner! what ive heard, fuller says cresswell is the best striker hes played with so hope your facts are right! as it is, i cant see fuller wanting play with mama, thats a lot of pressure on fullers shoulders because his strike partner doesnt chip in with any goals! rob, the last dozen games he as been useless, he as offered next to nothing, and if sidibe isnt contributing with hard work and link up then he shuldnt be in the team because his scoring record is pathetic

Exactly MD, it was the same at Sunderland last season - we more than matched them while Mama was on the pitch to cause trouble whilst taking the pressure off our midfield. As soon as he went off, we were under a barrage of pressure and eventually conceded a late equalizer.
Against Barnsley at home this season, we were utterly dire and posed no threat whatsoever until Mama came on and we woke up and started playing.
Deano - don't agree about the last dozen games - he was excellent against West Brom for a start, was an excellent foil for Fuller and took the pressure off the midfield.

rob dont think he was excellent v west brom, he did a great touch for the 1st then dissapeared. he as got start re-discovering the side of his game where he links up, holds up the ball and starts giving defenders a hard time, until he does hes got go, against barnsley i saw a man who didnt care about anything, if i was pulis i would of pulled him off after 20 mins.

It was in the aftermath of the West Brom game that Fuller most recently said about Sidibe being his preferred partner. It'll be in the Radio Stoke archives somewhere.
Where has he said he prefers Cresswell? I've never seen that.

MD, he said something about Cresswell being the best partner he'd played with when we signed Cressy.
However, a Preston fan on here was saying that they used to get in each other's way, and that Fuller actually had his most prolific season for Preston when Cresswell was played on....the left wing!

Oh right. I do remember them scoring together lots at Preston before they went their separate ways. I also thought that it was interesting that Preston fans would claim that, because it seems from the squad numbers that the original plan was for Sidibe to play on the left wing (just a guess, mind) but I've got to say, Cresswell has made a far better fist of playing on the left than any striker of the past.

FFS! When we signed Cresswell Fuller came out and said he was the Best partner he had played with as they complimented each other well and both scored goals.
What else would Fuller say about a player who is his mate and playing wank but try and praise him up,Fuller knows he is wank and wants Cressy up with him.
Im afraid Sidibe will NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH TO SCORE IMPORTANT GOALS OR ANY!!! IN THIS LEAGUE BUT DEFO NOT IN THE PREM WHERE THE CLUB 'SAY' WE WANT TO BE!
His contribution is like his goals tally,NONE!

Agree, it's long overdue that we end this Mamma nonsense. This player is becoming an embarrassment - a centre forward who can't score a goal FFS!! Believe me, he's NOT an essential cog - the time to drop him (from a great height) is long overdue.

i think with ANC looming it might be time to build a plan B depending on who if anyone we bring in in Jan
credit where its due he has performed well for us but since he got hurt hes lost something to his game add that to his inability to score goals it has got to be a position pulis looks at very seriously

Yeh im gutted we have pulled it around and are doing better you pricks, but lets not kid ourselves that Pulis has not still got his critics because he has like playing the useless Sidibe, standing by the disgraced Pericard, him not playing players in natural postions still.
If we were not so disjointed i think we would not concede these daft goals on the level which is so not Pulis is it.
Ive mentioned before that Coates must of had a word in his ear on get the team to play better football be more open because Pulis and his early boring football was turning fans away and losing Coates money or did you forget this!!!
Amazing int it when we try play football we know we can but Dick-ed has got play the defensive tripe, plus this is a crap league and if we don't go up due to HIS FAILINGS AGAIN in the january transfer window then you pricks come back and gloat on how we have not gone up but have been fooled into the Pulis spin on what a 'Great Season on nearly doing something but failing its been,im sorry Nearly aint good enough in my book but it seems its acceptable to many on here.
SIDIBE OUT

its obvious the people who dont go to the matches are the ones that dont like sidibe.just because they dont see him on the scoresheet on bbc score or sky sports news.look at his ratings in all trhe papers.his rating is usually one of the best.also he has been given man of the match more times than most players.

I don't think Coates has told Pulis to "play nicer football", given that he's gone on record as saying that "it takes a certain kind of football to get promoted from this division" when he brought Pulis back.
Yes it's a crap league, but you can only beat what's in front of you, and teams with far more financial clout than us, who've spent a lot more, are beneath us.
As for the players playing out of position, Cresswell and Pugh are both doing really well in their positions, and both have spent large portions of their career playing in these positions before they signed for us.
