If I moved to a job on radio somewhere else, say, Tyneside, it wouldn't stop me being a Stokie, but to be diplomatic, if I was commenting on a game between Stoke and Middlesborough for instance, it wouldn't stop me from supporting (verbally) Middleborough, especially if after the game I was on a phone in with Midllesborough supporters. That's not cowardice, it's tact.
Actually, he did seem to be saying, o.k. through gritted teeeth, that Stoke were the better side.

He did say at halftime that we should be 3-1 up. If he is a Plymouth fan, I thought he did it with good grace.

Yes he is a Plymouth fan, met in Austria a couple of years ago (pre-season tour) when he set up tent next to us! He was on holiday (ie not working for radio Stoke) but had gone over there as Plymouth were on tour in the same area and he had gone to watch them.
