Portsmouth defender Djimi Traore has been left out of Mali's preliminary squad for next month's African Cup of Nations.
Traore has not represented his country for the last year, and was omitted from the side after he went on holiday rather than play for the country in two African Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.
The 27-year-old's exclusion will come as a boost to Pompey manager Harry Redknapp, who is already set to lose Sulley Muntari (Ghana), Nwankwo Kanu and John Utaka (Nigeria) and Papa Bouba Diop (Senegal) for up to a month.
Mali, who have been drawn in Group B with Benin, the Ivory Coast and Nigeria, will trim their squad to 23 before the tournament commences on 20th January.
Squad:
Goalkeepers:
Mahamadou Sidibe (PAS Giannina), Oumar Sissoko (Metz)
Defenders:
Sekou Berthe (Panionios), Adama Coulibaly (Lens), Moussa Coulibaly (Mouloudia Alger), Souleymane Diamoutene (Lecce), Fousseyni Diawara (St Etienne), Cedric Kante (Nice), Boubacar Sidiki Kone (Maghreb Fes), Eric Sekou Chelle (Valenciennes), Adama Tamboura (Helsingborg), Sammy Traore (AJ Auxerre)
Midfielders:
Soumaila Coulibaly (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Drissa Diakite (Nice), Mahamadou Diarra (Real Madrid), Alphousseini Keita (Le Mans), Seydou Keita (Sevilla), Djibril Sidibe (Chateauroux), Mohamed Sissoko (Liverpool), Bassala Toure (Levadiakos), Mahamane Traore (Nice)
Strikers:
Mamadou Diallo (Qatar SC), Mahamadou Dissa (Roeselare), Frederic Kanoute (Sevilla), Modibo Maiga (Le Mans), Mamady Sidibe (Stoke City), Bakaye Traore (Amiens), Dramane Traore (Lokomotiv Moscow).

That's only the preliminary 38-man squad that was named a while ago.
He hasn't officially been named yet in the final, smaller squad.
