If your abroad, simply connect through a UK based proxy server.

Go to www.publicproxyservers.com and find a UK based server from the lists on the left hand side. Make a note of the IP address and the port.

In IE goto Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > Lan Settings. Tick 'Use a proxy server....' and enter the IP and port as mentioned previously. Then browse to the virgin media site and it should work. Don't forget to disable (un-tick) the proxy settings when your done.

You may need to try a few different servers as some of them are down/slow. Works for me though.
