Probably not a bad choice - a safe pair of hands with extensive experience. I still reckon they should have kept Coleman and never appointed Sanchez.

I wanted Fulham to go down this season but now sanchez has gone i'm not to bothered if they do go down or not. Hodgson is very respected in European football but didn't have to good a time last time he was in the Prem, I can't call this one, don't know if he'll keep Fulham up or not. I'll be a happy man if he sends Sunderland down though.

Whenever interviewed I've always thought Hodgson sounds like the late great Joe Strummer.
In fact, there's every chance he'll say this at the press conference:
London calling, yes, I was there, too An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true! London calling at the top of the dial And after all this, won't you give me a smile?

If he actually manages as well as he talks about the game, it could be a brilliant appointment. Always wanted to see how he would do over here. Success in the Prem would, perhaps, set him up nicely for a pop at the England job after Capello?

personally i think he is shit, he has never proved himself at all in this country and is a hell of a risk for a team struggling for premiership survival

Don't think you can really say he's shit - he led Switzerland to their first world cup in ages and took Inter Milan to the Uefa Cup final. I agree he hasn't entirely proved himself in England, but he did take an underperforming Blackburn side into Europe before losing the plot spectacularly in his next season.
A pretty major improvement on Lawrie Sanchez nevertheless.

Agree they should have stuck with Coleman who was doing a decent job there. Hodgson seems a good appointment.
