Lee Martin could return to the Plymouth Argyle side against former club Stoke City as the play-off hopefuls meet at Home Park.
The winger, currently on loan from Manchester United, played for Stoke last season and is pushing for a recall.
Martin has recovered from a hamstring injury and featured as a substitute in the Boxing Day win over Queens Park Rangers.
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock recalled Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Lilian Nalis and Paul Connolly for the win over QPR and reverted to a 4-4-2 formation.
Sturrock has said he plans another shake-up ahead of the game against third-placed Stoke.
The returns of Connolly, Nalis and Ebanks-Blake meant Dan Gosling, Gary Sawyer and on-loan Wycombe striker Jermaine Easter were left out, although Easter was introduced as a replacement for Barry Hayles against Rangers.
Stoke news
Potters boss Tony Pulis is expected to select an unchanged team for the fourth match in a row.
Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen is expected to face Argyle, despite suffering a minor knock in the Boxing Day draw at Barnsley.
Pulis is again likely to select defender Andy Wilkinson at the expense of the fit-again Stephen Wright.
Stoke, who are still without Dominic Matteo (foot), are unbeaten in the last eight and could soon be able to call on the services of Salif Diao.
Diao is closing in on match fitness after rejoining the club on a full-time basis following two hugely successful spells at the Britannia Stadium last season.

Calling us "play-off hopefuls" when we're 3rd, unbeaten in 8 matches! What do we have to do to be taken as serious contendors for automatic promotion?

Not be from Stoke on Trent, or called Stoke City I suspect.
This report comes from the TV Channel, sports news agency that continually referred to the Vale v Walsall game on Boxing day as a "local Derby" FFS.
I cannot take Sky seriously. I'm going to watch Big League Weekend this evening, and would bet my mortgage payment that Sky refer to our size as a team and direct approach at least two or three times, and point out the purity of Sturrocks approach to the game.
