Also check this out: footylatest.com/news/news.php?extend.1780The Lens attacking midfielder Kanga Akale has spoken out and said how much he would like to move to Stoke City and the Premiership, after it was revealed that talks were being held between the two clubs. The 27 year old Ivory Coast international has spent his career in Switzerland and France but is now looking for a "dream" move England to improve his CV. "My agent is conducting everything and I can't say anything yet but it will be a dream to play in the English league," Akale told skysports.com. "It is the best league and Stoke City can give me that chance to make a name for myself in England." Stoke are negotiating for a one-year loan with an option to buy if they manage to retain their Premiership status, and it is looking likely that the deal will be accepted by Lens, as they are trying to reduce their wage bill.

Not the most reliable of sources, but any source is better than none, hopefully it's true.

That second one looks more promising, it's always nice when a player wants to join us and his club is desparate to get rid, makes things that bit easier, look at Davies, least complicated buy of the summer.

L'Equipe is one of the most respected football newspapers in the World so hopefully it is true.

I think L'Equipe is the biggest football/sports newspaper in Europe - should be fairly reliable, unless it's like The People or The Mirror. EDIT: Ah, just beaten to it!

Not the most reliable of sources, but any source is better than none, hopefully it's true. Its a bit like the sports version of the FT, very rarely prints rubbish and if its french related then usually spot on. It bears no comparison to Sun, Daily Mirror etc. I put it on the other thread a while ago for you's.

so that would be Akale and Ledley then!

Because Stoke have been in denial about this one I wonder if Akale is a fall back position if we fail to land Joe Ledley? I'd be equally happy with either I think. Akale lots of experience and strength and Ledley bags of potential.

www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/08/29/Prem-Akale-to-join-Stoke/?facets/sport-space/football/great-britain-locale/STOKE CLOSING IN ON AFRICAN by Laurent Picard 29th August
Stoke City are expected to secure a one-year loan deal for Lens forward Kanga Akale in the next few hours. The player’s agent exclusively revealed to setantasports.com that the Ivory Coast international was closing in on a loan move to The Britannia Stadium, and reports in France claim the deal with be made official within the next few hours. The 27-year-old would strengthen The Potters thanks to his athletic style and bolster their chances to secure their Premier League status this term. Akale, loaned to Marseille last season, helped the French side finish third in the table and qualify for the Champions League preliminary round. He then returned to Lens, but the North club, relegated to Ligue 2, are desperate to find him a way out in order not to pay his high wages. The African talent was signed by his mentor Guy Roux in summer 2007, and his commitment to Lens was largely criticized as soon as the manager resigned.

Pulis refuses to have any knowledge of him and within 15 hours he is our player!! You mean like he said about Cresswell and Hull and then the following day he was a stoke player

The question Pulis was asked was about a Ghanaian called Akele. If he had been asked about an Ivorian called Akele he'd have had a harder problem denying it. Although he'd probably have denied it anyway!

www.les-transferts.com/premier-league/akale-de-nouveau-prete.htmlKanga Akalé will not dispute the season of the RC Lens Leagues 2 of them, the British press teaches us indeed that promoted Stoke City requested a loan of of the Ivory Coast near the club of Gervais Martel which accepted the proposal. Akalé, already lent last season to Marseilles forever known to impose itself on Lens where it arrived as a player stamp “Guy Roux”. Its wages not easily compatible with the financial requirements of League 2 will have encouraged the leaders lensois to turn to other tracks to animate their attack. It will be about the first experiment in England for Akalé which to find in Stoke City its former Auxerre-native team-member Amdy Faye. Dated 29/08/08

According to L' Equip, the offensive medium of the RC Lens Kanga Akalé (27 years) would be very close to joining Stoke City. L' international of the Ivory Coast, revealed with l' AJ Auxerre, should be lent by Blood and Gold with this promoted in First League. Under contract with Lens jusqu' in 2011, Akalé had already been lent to l' Olympic of Marseilles the last season. (By Patrick Juillard)
Also Dated 29/08/08.
Looks like a pretty much done deal.
