Nobody can knock Pulis for his signings this season. Even a PHW like me has to give him top marks for those he's brought in and moulded into a side that get on well together. Much of our current success is due in no small part to the spirit in the dressing room and that's why any signing/s we may bring in, in January, are of the same calibre. Team spirit is an integral part of success - perhaps even the most important part. In a side that gets on well together, the average player plays better when he can count on the backing of his mates when things are not going well for him. As things stand at the moment, I'd rather we didn't sign anyone than bring in someone who would destroy the team spirit we have now.
No bad apples or Fancy Dans please. SCFC don't need them at the moment.

thats more or less what pulis said on big league weekend last friday OS. He seems to be aware that the people he brings in must not upset the dressing room togetherness, you cannot knock that train of thought. Both he and the club are finally doing it the way we have all been asking for, so i congratulate him for that, he is winning me round, slowly

That's a relief, Banbury. It helps to know that I have some influence on him. If he continues to follow my train of thought, together, we'll get us promoted. OS.

Agreed but what we don't need to hear is that excuse trotted out for not doing any business in the first couple of weeks in January.

OS welcome to the rimmers club ;D
At the meet the manager TP made it very clear that personality and attitude were always major considerations when buying a player,
Not so long ago I remember hearing stories of several splits in the dressing room (Icelanders clique Irish clique etc) but from what I hear now most players are saying its the best dressing room they've ever known.
Our collective spirit, unity and togetherness is certainly showing at the moment with our brilliant recent form.

trebor, apb1 made a good point on another thread that our form has slumped over the last few seasons after Xmas time. It may happen again. That's why it's important for the club to sign a few good players to try and stop that. Those players must compliment the current squad and not detract from it in any way. Hence this post. Sheek is right though, there can be no excuses for not strengthening the side except that the right players cannot be signed. Signing players simply to appease the fans is not the right thing to do. I wouldn't and I'd be prepared to back my own judgement whatever the outcome. Although I'm a PHW, I won't knock Pulis for doing that whilst many of the rimmers will.

The sight of Ant warming up from the substitute bench tells you how badly we need to strengthen the squad.
The money is there and so are the deficiencies. We can't have a repeat of our now annual post Christmas balls up of a promising position...shirley?

Fair play to the manager, I was not totally convinced by either Cort or Pugh on their early showings...shows what I know! Similarly Lawrence, Cresswell, Shawcross, Fuller etc are all doing the business. I would suggest that Matteo and Wright have some work to do to convince me.

There does seem to be much more positive sounds from pulis than in previous seasons rather than down playing our chances he is sounding to me that he believes its going to happen and with Coates supporting the club with funds there may not be a better chance of reaching the top league again. Also it isnt as though we are asking players to come here for a relegation battle ! I am no Pulis fan but he is certainly cannot be faulted by results or his recent signings

Whoever he signs, he will sign with Stoke City's best intentions at heart.
Every manager can be afforded signings that don't always work out - it's part and parcel of football.
Wayne Routledge would be a brilliant addition footballing wise, but i can't help thinking he's the sort of player to see himself as bigger than Stoke City.

This cohesion runs throughout the club CPO(A)OS. PC trusts TP with his money; TP knows his position is secure under PC; TP has a strong backroom team that he trusts; TP brings in players he knows he can mould into a team. I've never known it this good.
