41 points
How many points do we reckon we will need for a:
top 2 finish top 6 finish
I think if we finish up with 85 points it will be enough for auto promotion. That is an average of 2 points from the next 22 games. = 44 points. 11 home home games and 11 away games. A big task but I feel we can do it. I really feel we should go for the auto promotion slots as the play offs a real lottery, although not many teams would fancy playing stoke tbh!
Out of the 11 home games I really think on current form we can win at least 7 of them. That will give us 21 points. If we can pick up another 5 away wins, that will give us another 15 points. So therefore, 12 wins out of 22 will give 36 points at least, taking out total of 77 points. Out of the 10 games left therefore we can afford to lose just 2, maybe 3 at the most. However, we need to achieve these points if we are serious about promotion. We have only lost 5, best record alongside Bristol, so to only lose 2, maximum 3, will mean only a loss of 7/8 games. I think we can do it.
Between 75 - 84 points should be enough for a play off spot.

True, but we also have away games such as sheff wed, QPR, Colchester etc. Also, I feel very confident in our home form so maybe 7 wins out of 11 is a little harsh? SGS

Past 4 years 6th place teams have finnshed on 75, west ham did it on 73 points in 2003?

88 points. Do you reckon we will need that many points? In that case, we need to win at least 14 out of 22 games. Then we need to draw 5 of the other 8 games which leaves only 3 losses. Still, if you want to go up, youve got to get the points on the board.

I think 2 points a game (from now) will place us very nicely come May
But it is a tough ask in anyone's book.
We've got to look to be winning 75%+ of our home games, then on the road we will inevitably scrape points through gritty performances.
So, assuming we win 8 home games, whilst also losing 2 and drawing 1, then we are on 25 points from 11 home games.
We then need to pick up:
5 wins, 4 draws, 2 defeats/6 wins 1 draw, 4 defeats.
On the road to ensure we get enough points. We can afford 6 defeats by my reckoning, though will have to ensure we don't draw many games should we go down the 6 losses route!
Goarrrn Stoke.

Sure is Banbury. When you break it down though its a massive ask for us to actually inprove our points return over the next 22 games. Somebody has got to do it though and if we do improve the squad sufficiently then we will have a chance. The play-offs are certainly a very realistic aim though.

i think the way everyone is playing in this league it will be possibly be won with the least points ever, as noone is running away with it are they?

You could be right especially if a Charlton or somebody else kick in and theres four or five going for it.

2 points a game is the target. Up to yet, the top team is short by 4 points and we're short by 7 points. It's really difficult to do catch-up when you're so many short at the half way stage but we can take heart that no side is matching the criteria. One side will come bursting through during the second half and it wouldn't surprise me if it is Palace. I'm not a betting man but I reckon the top two places will come from either Palace, WBA, Stoke or Watford and Southampton as the dark horse.
