SIMONSEN: Struggled on Barnsley's second and third goals, but wasn't the only one in trouble aerially at times yesterday 7
WILKINSON: No fears defensively as he stood his corner throughout with another sturdy showing 7
PUGH, above: A few fine crosses on the offensive, while keeping his head and feet well defensively after first-half booking 7
CORT: Grew in stature in the air and usual goal-bound block in the first period 7
SHAWCROSS: Daft booking for crude challenge, but clean tackling otherwise 7
LAWRENCE: A constant threat fully deserving his hat-trick after twice keeping his nerve from spot 9
EUSTACE: Put his foot in for the most part and picked out one or two cute passes 7
DELAP: Offered usual defensive cover and always testing with his throws 7
CRESSWELL: Recovered well after conceding early penalty and never wasted a chance to wind up home crowd - which wasn't difficult 7
SIDIBE: Missed out with a couple of headers that might have broken his scoring duck, but never gave up 8
FULLER: Withstood plenty of provocation en route to constantly goading defenders and supporters in equal quantity 8
SUBSTITUTES
PARKIN (for Sidibe,77): Seems to have won the penalty to justify his late inclusion in proceedings 7
Not used: Dickinson, Hoult, Zakuani, Pulis.
BARNSLEY: 22 Muller, 16 Foster, 18 Souza, 3 Nyatanga, 23 Van Homoet, 25 Devaney (2 Hassell, 90), 7 Togwell, 10 Howard, 11 McCann, 13 Ferenczi (18 Odejayi, 81), 21 Macken. Subs not used: 8 Mostto, 6 Johnson, 17 Ricketts

sidibe 8/10, fuller 8/10, how the fuck can martin spunk put sidibe on the same marks as fuller??? fuller caused endless problems, even won the 1st penalty, as for sidibe 5/10 would have been better, a shocking performance, will he ever score?? i doubt it judging by that 1st half header.

It has to be a typo? Sidibe was just poor and the odd flick-on and his (admittedly) superb commitment and workrate does not equate to an '8'. I personally could not mark him higher than a '6'. Even TP took him and replaced him with Parkin. That in itself speaks volumes.

This is how to decipher Spinks' match ratings...
6...... Had an absolute stinker and did nothing right all game, but Spinks doesn't want to upset him so he will pretend that he did Ok.
7......Probably played alright. However, may still have had a stinker, but if everyone else played Ok then Spinks will give him a 7 so as not to upset him.
8.....Man of the match contender. However, may still have had a stinker because if he hasn't played well in recent games then Spinks will give him an 8 today to make him feel better.
Nothing below a 6 shall ever be awarded under any circumstances. 9s are only given if we beat Newcastle in the cup, and then everybody shall get one anyway.
