Good first half, not so good second half. Barnsley fans livid with the ref including those sat around me who could not possibly see if the 2nd Stoke penalty was or was not a reasonable decision.
Dominated the first half territorially without creating a whole load of chances. Fuller was scaring them shitless one on one. Our pen was perfectly legitimate. Half time I thought we had 40% chance of winning, 40% chance of drawing & 20% losing.
The Barnsley fans accused Stoke of being a purely hoofball & were thus talking total bollocks, ignoring the obvious variation of play that DOES happen. Sure, we feel comfortable giving the ball some air and why not when we have got physical presence but with skill players like Liam, Ric & Pugh around other tricky stuff does happen.
I was worried that the Delap/Eustace midfield duo doesn't quite have the running power nor the creative passing ability that I would like to see. In the second half this plus Mama going off the boil and contributing rather little lead to the home team coming more into the game. Pugh also started to get found out against their right winger and both their goals originated from that area. I saw the Simo flap that lead to their third goal but didn't see any mishap on their second but probably fans behind the goal will put me right.
Our 2nd goal was brilliant, controlled pinball through the penalty area to the six yard line where any one of three Stoke players were in position to hit it. As for our final equaliser - well as I said, no idea what the ref gave it for which DOES NOT mean that he was wrong merely that I could not see from my position at the back of the East Stand top tie and directly on the goal line.
Didn't like seeing Stoke players getting involved with the crowd - Liam, Carl, Fuller, grow up. If something has been thrown, show it the ref and get on with the game.
In summary, on the basis of this game, strenghtening is required for central midfield, left back and Mama has to contribute for 90 minutes. Fight & team spirit in evidence until the end. Up to third so you wont catch me moaning!!!

Yeah - and it should be said that the penalty was given from a free kick on the edge of the area given when Fuller once again drew a foul from the defender (who was sent off). Fuller didn't score today but he is obviously a big factor for us. We sign one of the best players in the division to a longer contract, their best player (Macken) goes back to Derby next month.

Seen the last penalty decision on SSN - didn't exactly jump off the screen at me. Handball? Foul? Anyone know?
