.............was a MASSIVE wake up call for our tone? The look on his face during the game was one of ''oh fuckin hell, I knew it would be hard but not this fuckin hard!!!'' Hence this weeks transfer activity.
I think that he knew it would be difficult and also knew we needed to stregthen but think that he realised that his faith in some current players was well and truly misplaced!!!
Also, has anyone noticed that Kitson keeps refering to Reading as 'us' and 'we' and Stoke as 'them' and 'they' in interviews. Being overly paranoid, I feel that he is thinking, ''what the fuck have i done signing for these!''
was an interview on sky sports before bolton game and he said, ''as a striker you dream of playing in a team that will pass the ball around and play it to feet...........''amongst other things that made me wonder if he rues the day he put pen to paper.
Paranoia the destroyer! ;D

He's only played one game, damn. If Kitson didn't play for us on Saturday we may of finished 4 - 1.

Danny, im not refering to his performance on the pitch at all and apologise if that is how it came across, I am concerned/paranoid about his wording in interviews.

1) While it might well have been a wake-up call, the seeds for this week's transfer activity will have been sown well before the Bolton game.
2) DK seems quite a clever lad; He will have known all about the manager / team he was signing for.

I wasn't moaning at you, was just saying.
He's only played one game and if he is going to talk like you say he has, Pulis needs a few words.

I would like to think that the Bolton game was a wake up call and make the players realise that the Premier is a massive step up. To be honest it will take the guys a few games to get up to different level of football and to gel with the new guys. A little dissapointed people were not brought in slightly earlier (admittedly a few weeks ago my bum cheeks were twitching) however that is the nature of the beast with these transfer window dates.

It's only one game Jeeeessus.
And Tone already knew what he's doing.

I think regardless of opinions of who, what and where is to blame it's time to put the Bolton game to bed and move on. We have a hard game against Villa on Saturday and I think it would be better for us to concentrate on a game that has yet to be played and not one there is fuck all we can do about anymore. It has been argued/discussed to death. Let's draw a line and move on people.

...hence this weeks transfer activity?
er..No!
Two of the players (Fayes) had signed and one was sitting in the stand. The winger Dramani was scouted over a month ago
These are TP's tactic - to leave his signings late as he believes he will have better options - whether its a good policy only time will tell
However he will learn a lot about his players in every game this season

My question was whether or not you feel that Pulis realised the immensity of the task at hand BECAUSE of the Bolton game, I wasnt for one minute insinuating that we lost the game because of any one person and or any one moment and certainly was not lambasting the manager and I didnt infer that I felt that he never knew what he was doing, just that it could possibly have been a stark realisation as to the enormity of the task.

I'm sure TP realised the size of the task before Bolton, but I do wonder whether when he saw PC after the match he took the opportunity to squeeze an extra couple of million out of his wallet ;D

this weeks transfer activity has consisted of signing someone who is not fit enough to play satdee, and another that nobody knows what the hell is going on, and would require a work permit that we are unlikely to get before saturday. we have not got the work permit for abdy faye yet so there is currently a chance he won't play either.
only at stoke eh!!!!
To answer the original question, i would hope it was a wake up call, and i expect changes to satdees line up.
Also i would expect TP to cut out any article referring to the paddypower episode and pin it up in the dressing room and tell the squad that that can be used as motivation.

Has anyone considered the idea that Pulis is giving the guys who got us promoted a chance to play for their positions in the Premier League before replacing them with better players.
Also it gives him a chance to view the current squad as it stands and to vector in on their weaknesses, as well as their potentials, before applying the new players into the framework of the first 11 (18?)
Just a thought like!

I think that is exactly what some people have already suggested on other threads. Can he afford to have a sentimental view on players who are quite clearly not up to the job though?

He's created the time to get the "sentimental view" though, hasn't he, by not rushing signings in.
Takes a lot of bottle to go down this path though, and the signings have to be right to make up for points lost (given away), or we'll be on a downward spiral of DERBY proportions where no amount of signings are gonna make a difference.
I'll give Pulis his due, I think it gives the players the respect they deserve to fight for their places regardless of 'our opinion' of their ability.

Very true. Let's hope it's not to the detriment of our Premiership status.

Our Premiereship status was always going to be tentative anyway, lets face it Paddy Power are paying out on us already.
Despite this I am not nervous or worried about any failure to survive there this season, and to be honest I think weve got a reasonable chance of survival.
We had a relatively poor side out against Bolton and was not upstaged (except for the finishing), in fact we gave them a game and had any of Corts' chances flew in, as did their first goal, then it may have been a different story after 90 mins.

I think there is some merit in your thinking DHB. I was expecting us to be Bolton's equals and I was shocked myself at how nervous we seemed and how much better Bolton appeared to be. It was a wake up call for me if not for TP. There were some positives to be had but not too many & whilst I am not overly enthused by the people we have bought and are attempting to buy I still have faith in TP to motivate the team and to make us a very difficult side to play against who are/will be capable of staying up this year.

I know all about that, I just think it will be a shame if we miss out on staying up by a couple of points down to not getting the right players in earlier, time will tell I'm sure. As for Paddy Power I really don't give two shits what cheap publicity stunt they are pulling out, it means nothing.

Lets face it if we won/drew on Sat and Hull lost, they would have paid out on them instead. Purely publicity, they will have already decided that they would pull the stunt well before Saturday, it just depended which team.
