"The shape of Stoke's team for Saturday wil largely depend on the Home Office - as they await permits for Abdoulaye Faye and potential loan recruit, Haminu Dramani"

A deal is made then.
Can't see why it shouldn't be ok with Faye, but can it be that an application has been sent in for Dramani prior to his arrival if they are awaiting it for Saturday?

there's absolutely no reason why their work permits shoudnt be granted. i fully expect them to be granted at the very latest tomorrow i wouldve thought

Well, Olofinjana's took 5-6 days to get through all the red tape and come through.
So Faye's should come through today or tomorrow at the latest?
As for Dramani, I suppose it depends when we made the application?

Coupled with Stoke's Admin, we better not rely on it happening.

12.30 update - Dramani won't be involved as it won't go through in time, even if he signed today...
Working very hard on the Faye deal.
It's complicated as he hasn't played the required % of competitive international games in the 2-year qualifying period to get an automatic green light - but the Home Office say as long as they get a document signed by the Senegal manager confirming that the only reason he hasn't was down to injuries, the Home Office will approve the permit without the appeal.
Scholes says he's hopeful of getting it sorted in time for Saturday.

Why are all these 'international' deals so bloody annoying and intricate?!

There's probably some poor underling at the Home Office who's working 'round the clock on our work permit applications this summer.
Hopefully he'll have another Serb on his desk soon.
I jut hope the Senegalese manager does actually confirm the reason he didn't play the games was injury - and not because he thinks he's shite ;D
Otherwise that's what we'll be in

Good news though, more options in the midfield. Let's hope we've unearthed a gem for once.

Presumably we can extend it in January if Pulis has been convinced of his worth by then?

Hopefully there's an option to buy in January.

Pleased he is signing but disappointed he won't make the villa game - really need some new blood or Fuller/Lawrence to start that one!Dramani Deal Close Posted on: Thu 21 Aug 2008 stokecityfc.com can reveal that the club are closing in on a loan deal for Lokomotiv Moscow star Haminu Dramani. The Ghana international will join the club on a 6-month loan once all the formalities have been completed, and as Chief Executive Tony Scholes explains that isn't easy. "Everything at our end has now been completed and we are just awaiting some signatures from the other parties involved. "We are pressing and pressing, and hopefully very imminently we will be able to make an announcement. "The work permit issue always takes a day or two, even if it is pretty straightforward which this one should be, it still takes time. "We aren't signing a lad from Wolverhampton or Manchester here, we are taking a Ghanaian from a team in Moscow. "There are African agents involved, Russian agents involved and we have got an English agent involved as well, so it isn't going to be easy. "The thing is with these sort of deals, the more complex it is the longer it is going to take to get sorted. "That doesn't mean that things aren't being done incorrectly, it just means things are a little bit harder to get completed. "Even if we get it done today he won't be able to feature this weekend."

Must be in view to a permanent deal. Maybe in the January window?

I would have thought so. It is like an extended trial but means that if he turns out to be crap then we only have him for half a season rather than being lumbered with him for the entire campaign.
I hope we get a clause in of first option because if he turns out to be quality then bigger boys will come sniffing.

Surely we'd make sure we have first option on him in case he does turn out to be an absolute star???

Obviously feel they need to defend the length of time transfers are taking!
