Whats happening when you try connect, it should just plug straight in too your modem, make sure you aint using a firewall.

Add new device i would say on your pc set up, i dont use wireless so couldnt tell you, have a search on net for it.

Wireless works straight out of the box. Under network settings you just need to know the config of your wireless router. If you can sign onto the Store then your network is working, If not get that working before worrying about online games.
PS
If you dont have encryption on your router it should work without changing anything.
