REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts ahead of the games with Stoke City and Southampton. "He added: "Stoke are a similar side to Watford and are a big, powerful, aggressive outfit. We have to match that from the first whistle and hopefully our football will shine through. We cannot let Stoke bully us because they are a good team and can physically overpower you. They have quality in Ricardo Fuller, who is a Premier League striker. Southampton will be completely different and play the game in the same way we do. They pass the ball and look to create chances in a purists' way. We have shown that we are capable of matching that and there has not been a team who have played football like us at times this season." Taken from: Simon Davey Talks Shite....Is it me or is this getting 'bullying' and 'let our foorball shine through' crap starting to grate! Come on Fuller, a repeat of Saturday would do nicely!

We're playing the intricate stuff when we make it near the goal, mainly through Lawro and Fuller....and the main thing id we're being successful.
It's certainly better than in the past we have lacked skill in our football - when Akinbiyi led the line being an example.
Davey is jumping on the bandwagon - probably because the rest of the Championship think it is unjust we should be in the upper reaches given our squad!! Jealousy, I think it is called......

Have to say i'm sick of this moral high ground crap. Seems to be the line that managers use to get on their fans side, despite how little truth is in it. "We lost but that's because we are purists". Their supporters nod because it tickles them in the right areas and it throws them off criticising their team and boss.
No the truth is you lost because you aren't good enough.

starkiller,
In terms of Tony Mowbray's comments after Saturday - it's a bitter interview that appeals to a bitter fanbase. It is done in an attempt to 'sweeten' fans - that they're playing the game in the 'right' way. Back in the real world, it's a load of bollocks attempting to justify their own inability to prepare their side sufficiently for the task ahead.

Of course all the other teams are purists, that's why they're still in this division, and below us most of them. Let'em all get on with their moaning and preaching, we'll get on with beating them. Come on, Stoke!

To be fair they did outplay us and were the best footballing side to come here this year. But their strikers couldn't hit a barndoor. Hopfully they will be the same tomorrow. I thought they did ouplay us and played better football than WBA, as unlike them , they did create lots of chances.

........yes, they were the better team (on the day) and they played the better football (on the day), but that was then and now is now.
Yet, despite that they didn't win and given that we are a better, much more closely knit outfit these days AND Ricci has hit a rich vein of form, I can only see one winner tomorrow.
IMHO, they had their chance and they blew it.

Brazil are shite anyway . Arsenal are the football purists and the rest are all imitators . The rest preach the pure way but don't how to do it . I want to see the ball in the back of the opposing teams net , how it gets in the back of the net i really don't care .

I'd imagine Tone would tell you they're an ex premier league side Joe. That's who they are.
