...At the same stage.?
I think so....there seems to be a much better team spirit and never say die attitude.?
Short term loan players don't seem to 'gel' in the same way as permanent signings do.
What do you reckon.?

When last year?
We were at least three teams during the course of last term weren't we?

Simmo
Hoefkens Doobs Higgi Griffin
Lawrence Diao Russell Hendrie
Fuller Mama
looks stronger than
Simmo
Wilko Shawcross Cort Pugh
Lawrence Delap Eustace Cresswell
Fuller Mama
as for Your original question I really don't know! On paper last seasons team has more quality but the current lot just seem to have an almost x factor to fight for another and win. They seem far more united and play as a team.

IMO, we had a better team last year, a bit more quality in the middle for starters, BUT......we were just about to lose a few of them, and a lot of momentum went with them. That isn't the case this year and we will, hopefully, be strengthened rather than weakened, Diao for starters.
So we had a better team in December of last year, but will be stronger at the start of January this year, IMHO.

yes, I think we are although we've conceded 8 or 9 more goals which is a worry.

That comes from less protection from the midfield though I think. All the defenders that have played this season have been outstanding.

possibly
it is a bit concerning as you tend to get the genuine promotion challengers having very tight defences Not trying to put a negative slant on our chances but somehow we have got to tighten up a bit

I think the defence are doing all right-we have had lapses in defence like the 4 against Wednesday and the 2 vs Plymouth so 6 of the difference of 9 can be attributed to 2 games when we played woefully. The defence now Wilko and Pugh are in the full back slots looks pretty solid to me.

its a strange one bayern
you look at the individual defensive performances and yes, I agree with what you say. We just seem to concede very easily at times Also, don't want to take anything away from the lads yesterday, they played their hearts out and outclassed West Brom It was frustrating though to see Stoke give possession away so easily. When we went 2-0 up we seemed to lapse concentration and give Brom too much respect
Would just love a positive result at Barnsley as this would relly propell us into a very strong position
I might be proved wrong but our side looks like an auto promotion oufit

I think again the lack of keeping possesion is down to the quality of Delap and Eustace. They don't half give the ball away a lot of the time and there shutting down is slow too. Diao hopefully will sort this out.

ironically Delap and Eustace played well yesterday Pugh , although I like him, has the tendency of giving the ball away cheaply

Hopefully more decent players will actually join permanently this january now that we have this better team spirit and have a decent shot at automatic promotion! Rather than just hedging their bets and joining on loan!

They did-Delaps best game all season I thought. He can do but Delap and Eustace are the worst two for that. Cresswell too likes losing it in dangerous areas down that left. Our ball retention all season has been poor.

Post by Deleted on Dec 24, 2007 1:08:03 GMT
agree what you say about Cresswell, good player but loses possession a lot don't want to criticize too much as our performance results wise has been magnificent but we do have to keep possession much better btw, athough he has been a great player of late, thought Lawrence had a poor game-never mind, all players have off days

Our ball retention does need improving defineately. Lawrence was quiet but ran his socks off. He still got an assist mind. So far he is my player of the season. It's like watching a different player this year-last year he was average but this season he has been outstanding. If we can get Mama scoring and Diao and Whelan in midfield I think we'll win the league.

Lawrence is one of my players of the season, my player ots is Ricardo, even before his 5 goals in 2 games
wanted to give you some Karma but I don't know how to
can you help?

Ric has been good all season and our biggest threat. I would give it Lawrence though for his improvement this season from last.
Karma is given by clicking the exalt button on the left hand side under the karma bit. Cheers!

Cheers! I have no idea about the -12! ;D Got -1 then woke up logged on -7 then the next morning -12! Oh well! It is a very exciting time indeed and we look like a team who can get promoted. I think he had been out for a while with his dodgy knee and Southampton needed to offload wages-so we got him! What makes it even better is that he only cost 500k!

well I'm a bit older than you(47 old twat), not putting you down, I wish I was 20 again but I've seen Greenhoff, Conroy, Hudson, Chamberlain, Stein, Hoekstra etc and Fuller ranks with those, he really does
Barnsley is a massive match as we could cemrnt ourselves as true auto contenders
and why not?
all this fucking Brummie newspaper pap about the quality of our team, they need a reality check because after seeing Brom I would be surprised if they make the play-offs

Post by bayernoatcake on Dec 24, 2007 1:50:56 GMT
Fuller is class-I just wish (sometimes) that I was an old twat (no offence ) so I could have seen those players! I was in dreamland last season having Patrik Berger on the bench. It would cement us and it prove we could go to a half decent team and beat them at their own place. They are a better team than people give them credit for. As for the Brummies fuck em let them live in their little dream world! I think they will manage the play offs due to most teams not being able to defend that amount of pressure for that amount of time. We just soaked it up-other teams will buckle and make West Brom look like the Brazil them fuckers think they are!

Tell you what
Plymouth will give us a tough game, possibly the best side I've seen at the Brit ( Wednesday weren't bad but were very lucky)
are you going to Barnsley?
|
|
|
Post by bayernoatcake on Dec 24, 2007 1:58:17 GMT
They will-these next two games are two very tough games. Plymouth have some good solid players such as Norris and then have play makers such as Halmosi-who for me is a class above. I'm not going Barnsley no, the next game for me will be Hull.

Blackpool was brilliant. We only went for the day but still had a cracking time. The atmosphere was brilliant and the result even better-the mental for Corts goals was the best until the one for Fullers third on Saturday!
