I noticed that as of yesterday the John Smith's stand is now known as the West Stand. Should we assume that the John Smiths deal was with the council not with the club and that seeing as we now own the stadium, the deal is cancelled? I noticed that the sign for John Smiths on the roof had gone (or at least it looked like it had from behind, I was sat in there) and everything. Maybe they're going to rename it after Sir Stan/John Ritchie.
On another sponsorship note, did anybody notice the advert for Chlamydia in the corner?

I spotted that during the Watford game. Doesn't it advertise piss-testing kits, or something?
;D

John Smiths. I THINK that deal was to do with the "beer contract"? Maybe we are/have changing suppliers?

City's New Brewery Deal Posted on: Wed 28 Nov 2007
The Club have today announced a new partnership with Carlsberg UK who will replace John Smiths as the Club's official beer partner.
As the advertising slogan says, it is 'probably' the best known beer brand in football!
Fans will now be able to enjoy a pint of Tetley bitter, or Carlsberg draft or bottled lager.
Chief Executive Tony Scholes told City World:
"We are delighted to welcome Carlsberg UK as our official beer partner. The deal is a fantastic one for the Club and will run through the rest of this season and then for a further three years at least, until May 2011. Financially the deal is more than double the value of the old deal and it says a lot for how the Club are currently perceived in the commercial market place.
"The contract has changed hands in November, as the original contract with John Smiths lasted until after the Sheffield United game. It's not an ideal time to change brewers, and a lot of work has gone into the changeover in the last couple of weeks.'
Simon Gibson, Carlsberg UK's Marketing Manager said:
"Carlsberg are delighted to be able to announce their support of support Stoke City F.C., over the next three and a half years as the Official Beer of the Potters.'
"Carlsberg has a rich heritage at all levels of the game, including being the Official Beer of England and the FA Cup until 2010, extending our association which dates back to 1997.'
"Carlsberg looks forward to working with the Club, on a number of initiatives to further develop the fan base and reward fans for their continued support.'
Tony Scholes concluded by saying:
"I would also like to take the opportunity to thank John Smiths for their sponsorship of the Club over the past 10 years."
