Last weekend I went to Scotland for a wedding, at a place called Saltcoats in Ayrshire. Fuck me what a dump, it's like a cross between Meir, Oakamoor and the hills have eyes!!!!

Ive only ever been once and it was a fairly rainy day but I too thought it was a little bit grey and drab.
I used to work for Bank of Scotland too and I could never get on the same wavelength as the jocks.
Generally found them to be either rude or neurotic with chips on their shoulders

Bit like the people who frequent the Taybarn.

Basing your experience of "Scotland" on one visit to Ayrshire is a bit daft!
It's a beautiful country especially the west coast once you're north of Glasgow.
The Scots can be quite irritating though if you're English. They never let you forget it and go on and on and on about any English sporting defeat.
When we won the Rugby World Cup I gave my ex-colleagues fucking shedloads of gloating abuse. It was pay-back time alright!!

I went to an engineering college near dunfermline in early 70s. We organised a coach to take a load of us to see england trounce the jocks 5-0 at hampden. On way back we were giving the jock driver so much stick that he simply stopped the coach outside stirling and fucked off leaving us pissed and without a driver. Police eventually turned up and arranged a driver to take us back.

The mountains are all very well but really the towns in general are shitholes!
I've seen quite a few of them also . . .

I was based at R.A.F. Lossiemouth in 98/99. The area was nice if a little bland, but the locals assured me that Trainspotting was the most accurate documentary ever made. ;D Also stayed with a friend in Kirkcaldy, another nice area but typical Braveheart attitude. Loads of skinny, spotty chavs who hate the English.

I have been to Scotland a couple of times (Ayr and Edinburgh) had a great time on both occasions and found Edinburgh to be one of the cleanest city's I have been too, so I disagree davemong.
