I'll probably get some stick for this but... I don't want to see the Vale go down, being in the Division below is enough really to hammer home just how much bigger and better we are than them. They'd probably disappear altogether if they did and I'd think it would be bad for the City as like it or not they are quite a big part of it I think we should loan them some of our players who obviously can't do it at our level to get them out the mire. Pericard, young Ant and Buxton would be a good start on end of season deals. It would obviously have the added benefit of none of them being available to play for us for the rest of the year too!!! Now if it were Screw who were in danger of relegation !!! Please Please Please ;D

Speaking to my mate last night and he says they wont go down. Im a bit skeptical however I want the vale to remain in the league one outfit and soon be pushing for promotion in a season or 2. Having 2 good football teams in an area is great. Imagine in 10 years if we both made the bigtime? The area would be great. I.E. Merseyside, G Manchester, Tyne & Wear

That would be good for the area I agree but I'd settle for them being one division below really... when we make the Prem they could battle into the championship for me.
God knows the area needs something!!!

Steady.... lets not get oversentimental. Do agree with you about Crwho though....like to see them rot in the Blue Square....because of their typical fans "We live on the Cheshire border (Kidsgrove usually)"
(no offence to Kidsgrove - excellent place - just some pretentious twats like to disown it soon as they take a loan out on their first 4 x 4 )

I go for the extremes.
I think Stoke on Trent is only big enough for one league club and there is no chance of the clubs merging. So in the long run Vale going bust would work well. It would mean the next generation of Vale supporters gravitating towards supporting Stoke.
But I don't think they are likely to do the decent thing and disintegrate. The next best thing is for them to start winning and make it into the Championship. If we get promoted then we retain bragging rights. If not, I always enjoy the derby matches.

If fail were to go bang then there fans especially the younger generation would not go and support Stoke and i doubt their parents would take them either. The majority will more than likely dish out there manure or chelski tops

'The majority will more than likely dish out there manure or chelski tops'
You may be right Betty. But over time if there was only one local team, it would naturally inherrit the local support.
It is an academic point though, I am afraid they are probably going to be around for the foreseeable.

I agree manure and chelski would pick up even more fans then. Look at the facts fale used to get a decent attendance, in fact very good numbers actually and now even Kerry "heading for jail" Katona could cater for their halftime food needs in a single trip to Iceland! The fans that have stop going haven't turned up to see Stoke have they???

totally agree about loaning them players having them as a feeder club would not only secure their survival but give us first shout on the young players they seem to produce.

Its a shame but I don't think the city has the financial backing to support two decent size clubs.
I hope they don't go down because as you say they will go out of business!
