It would take longer than 7 hours and you'd need a hell of a long piece of wood.

Depends where in the US you are flying to. I have flown back from Philadelphia to Manchester in just over 5 hours 30 minutes, but it usually takes about an hour longer flying from Manchester to Philly due to the flight path being different. On average, your looking at 7 hours coming to the East Coast, and 6 hours to fly back.

Thats a good point....if you do fly to the States, do not, under any circumstances, fuck around with the immigration officials!

Here's a great website for tracking flights. US based so not sure on flights that don't arrive / leave the US. flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL155This link is for flight number DL155 (Manchester - JFK). The last few flights have been 6 1/2 to 7 hours there!

Just a side note, I think if you want to fly to the USA now you need to give your details 3 days in advance of departure - you cant just turn up buy a flight and leave. Just in case you were about to skip the country or owt!!

Funny you should say that Mr Stateside, When I went to NY, instead of being wished "a happy vacation" by the immigration official I was actually "dismissed". I've never been "dismissed" in my entire life Though as I walked out I gave everyone of 'em a good old British angry glare ;D
