regarding the alleged rape at the Man United party.
How long before we can expect him in a Stoke shirt, that's where these sex-scandal Footballers normally end up!

What annoys me most with this case is, if it had nothing to do with the Man Utd this would not even make the local news.

O.K...so you are a (in this case) a united player.Probbaly have got your pick of girls to shag, anytime anywhere. But you are gonna rape someone. Can't see it myself
Remember that one from Charlon a few years ao, did you see the state of the girl making the claim. Right munter she was.

Where would this leave Shawcross? Is he likely to be recalled if Evans goes to jail for some illegal buggery?
In all seriousness the whole thing is so implausible. Fact is, these blokes get pretty much any woman they want without having to do anything more than lob their wallet out. Whatever happens, if this lad is innocent then he is going to have this millstone round his neck for the rest of his career. Imagine playing at Sunderland with 50,000 unwashed mackems telling you you're a fucking rapist. I bet he cannot wait to break into first-team football now.

How many players have been arrested/questioned for alleged rape involvements in the last few years- a dozen maybe- how many charged? A few skanks looking for publicity and a pay out doesn't warrant a player guilty - disgraceful they make the player's name public. The ones who accuse them should be charged IMHO
Poor old Dave Jones ( despite the moronic chanting at Stoke) was completely innocent- put yourself in his and his family's shoes- absolute outrage, the guy despite being overwhelmingly proven innocent is scarred for life by a bunch of fucking cavemen

The 'Spanish three', Leicester players were all released without charge I seem to remember.
This episode made the news for two reasons - firstly the ManU factor in general and secondly in the hope of the tabloids that if true, it would be one of the big names. Suppose they're feeling a bit knocked back now the name's been revealed as Jonny (WHO?) Evans!
Like you say, there's no way on earth that one of these lads did what the 'lady' in question alleges. If needs be they could always use the Wayne Rooney guide to scouse brothels, but doubt whether even that would hold any attraction to these lads.

My heart stopped when I heard the news. Whether guilty or not, Fergie does not like players who are anywhere near trouble, hence his getting rid of the likes of Whiteside, Ince and Paul McGrath.
So, as Wes Brown has refused a new contract, (not enough loot) that puts Shawcross two places higher in their squad. Let's hope that he wants another 'ready' centre half, as, like everyone else, including the Glazers, it seems, no-one ever says no to Fergie and he could buy big in the transfer window.
On the other hand..........

Two points: rape is a violent crime, not exactly the same kick as consenting sex, so no matter how many birds are chucking themselves at players doesn't mean that they would never rape someone.
Second, the number of convictions for rape in this country is tiny compared to the number of claims made (only something like 1 in 10 get to court and only 1 in 10 of those result in conviction). Therefore although I am sure there are quite a few false claims of rape by women, there are doubtless many many rapes go unpunished. In the case of footy players then obviously there is more motivation and opportunity for false claims, but a lot of people seem pretty quick to dismiss this and most other cases involving footballers without much thought that they may be wrong.

One thing is high profile players need to be aware of the possibilities that situations can bring. Its no coincidence that the player involved in these allegations is young and perhaps not as astute as his older colleagues. The elder statesmen of the club perhaps knew how to avoid this sort of trouble or could smell when a situation coulod get nasty?

IMHO, the legal process in this country would be improved if suspects were granted anonymity during all criminal investigations / trials. In rape / sex crime cases, where the accusation itself can have devastating consequences for the accused, it should be a basic right (as it is for the victim). If a guilty verdict is delivered, then declare open-season on the scum, but not before.
Leaving that aside, theoriginalbanksy is spot-on with the point (very often missed), that rape is not about sex, it's about violence and power. Or at least "conventional" rape is. The issue is becoming blurred now by the definition / interpretation of consent. Before too long a bloke is going to need a signed contract before getting jiggy!
