One of the nice things about working for a large company in the north west is- my office contains lots of football fans of champoinship teams. Its a great litmus test as I walk about the building how, more and more want to ask me about stoke city and what they are doing presently.
Two things are notable. First, more and more are noticing our league positon and our 'reputation' as a tough uncompromising well organised team, hard to beat and, a major threat from any long ball or set piece (amazingly, a bad thing to some on the old board.
Secondly, as each teams turn comes around, they fancy playing us less and less. Take Blackpool, a quick unsolicited chat with a friend in purchasing from 'up that way', revealed that blackpool fans are delighted witth their start but, tend to do less well against the physically large uncompromising teams- quite simply they fear us today if he's anything to go by. True they have some nippy players but, they find it hard against the better defences.
He reckoned theyd push us hard but if they dont score first half, we will win it

It is good to hear that teams are afraid of playing us, or at least their fans. Amazingly Tony, some on the old board voiced concern that the long ball, and set pieces were our only likelyhood of scoring. I guess that from the "fishing" comment you'd disagree that this isn't such a good thing.
To say we are a major threat from any long ball is pushing the envelope somewhat, but as we are doing well at the moment it hardly seems worth labouring the point.

It's always interesting to learn how other clubs perceive us and to be honest it doesn't surprise me one bit they dislike playing us.
The physical presence, the way we're set up and our 'direct' style must be a nightmare and on top of that we've actually now got a few footballers in the side.
Long may it continue!

They are worried about paying us? Do they owe us money?

Just shows how deep Coates' pockets really are. They stretch all the way to Blackpoo...

Where i work we get folk from the 'Black Country' a Baggies fan and a Wolves fan come most days.
At the start of the season the Wolves fan in piticular (Baggies fan tends to keep his trap shut, as you'd expect) was very vocal about how amazingly well Wolves would do, automatic promotion, no problem.
Tipped us to struggle, even go down. He believed it as well. Now however, with us being above them and doing well, he's not so vocal. in fact he actually avoids me as i drive past pointing out of the window laughing.
You know what, i love it.
