Having watched both the Sony conference and the Microsoft conference - it was very very clear that the 360 is offering a lot more than the PS3 in the coming months. So much so in fact that I was pretty embarrased for Sony.
The 360 will be having a complete re-design of the dashboard coming in September with brand new Avatar’s that can be completely designed to match the user (a bit similar to the Mii’s on the Wii, but miles better). With this comes new games that will include your new avatar and friends avatar’s, brand new gameshows on xbox live that can be played with upto 100 people, brand new downloadable movies and TV content, and Microsoft even announced they are in partnership with Netflix - the online rental, downloadable video store with over 10,000 titles, aswell as MGM, Universal, Disney etc etc. Xbox live is getting a total revamp aswell, with brand new family games to play aswell as arcade favourites. A brand new singing game ‘Lips’ complete with wireless mic’s looks awesome and a must for Christmas karaoke fiends. All this is available in the Autumn System update and I must admit, it looks superb. Games looked awesome aswell - Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie, COD etc etc with more online modes than ever before. The downloadable Grand Theft Auto content is also gonna be huge (apparently a whole new island with new vehicles and new weapons), exclusive to 360.
As for the Sony conference, there was nothing that stood out. I even thought the crowd was going to ‘boo’ at one stage when the presenter started talking about how well the PS2 had done over the months - I mean what the fuck are they on, talking about a system thats been dead in the water for so long. The Playstation store is having films and TV added, similar to the Xbox, but they don’t have the rights to Netflix, and you have to pay another fee for the films (Netflix is free for Xbox Live members). But I wanted them to say they were having a complete overhaul of the ‘not so user friendly’ Playstation store, alas no. Home - still no release date and the Sony chap just said ‘It’ll be worth the wait’ - oh thats okay then!! No sign of PlayTV, and no stand out innovations. Resistance 2 looked okay and Killzone 2 looked okay, but still nowhere near as good as Gears 2 on the Xbox. LittleBigPlanet will be Sony’s star for 2008 and thats it!
So in summary, the 360 won E3 hands down, knocking Sony into a corner on more than one occasion.
If I worked for Sony I would hanging my head in shame - an abysmal showing at one of the world’s greatest and biggest video games conference’s.
Microsoft have done it again by showing bottle, determination and innovation and deserve to be the top selling console to date.
Bring on the Autumn update.

I wasn't impressed by this years E3 at all to be honest.
I thought the Microsoft conference was poor, the Ninty conference very poor and i'm yet to watch Sonys conference, but i haven't heard much good news come out of it.
Microsofts killer app is the new Live update which appears to have split the fanbase a bit like marmite. Me personally i don't like it, as i think the exsisting interface is great.
For nintendo their was Wii Motion Plus, it looks good, but is definately not ground breaking. It just enhances the Wii mote by making it alot more sensitive, so that it responds in real time to exactly what you are doing off screen. No new Zelda or Mario annoucements, its doesnt look like theres many must have games this end of the year at all really.
Off to watch Sonys conference....

not really mate, no.
Same graphics engine as the first one, just some new courses and extra vehicles....nothing mindblowing at all.
I just feel so let down by Sony and the only thing I am looking forward to is LittleBigPlanet but thats it. There was nothing else that took your breath away or stopped you in your tracks thinking "I must have that".
And on the PSP, there's Super Stardust Portable, thats it.
Again, there was no mention of when Home is coming out, nothing either about PlayTV they promised, and to top it all - the new movies and shows you can download aren't available in Europe until Spring next year. The 360 is having it all in September FFS
Sony just keep on taking the piss and it gettin on me moobs !!
