sorry, didn't get your link. Did you write the one about fans being united? I often wonder not having lived in S-O-T for a number of years what the REAL general opinion of TP is. The Oatcake is a fabulous way for those of us living away to keep in touch, gossip, moan and show unbridled passion and excitement....well versus Cardiff one night anyway but we are but a handful of supporters. I personally don't really care what his PR skills are like so long as he manages a team and gets us promoted. I also know that we get stuffed every so often in our attempts to create a team when the likes of Derby come sniffing around and take the likes of the Shawcrosses of this world TP seems to have many who just don't like him and there'll still be moaning about him should he succeed. I think the unity lasts as long as the last win for some.

Stand back and wait for Fred et al to have a pop LS1!
(The link don't work cos it's too long for here ... All SentiVale links are same ... But we can't boycott this place as well!)
It's a good article ... But you've just been led up a path by the fact that 80% of the old usernames haven't found their way onto here ... Indeed, Spinksy must be wondering where all of his material has gone ... And P&G will be a graveyard tonight!
And it's full price next home game ... So we'll be back to 13,000, half of 'em singing Pulis Out!
;0)

Here it is!
News 14/12/2007 - City Sentinel: Finally united in pursuit of dream
I was beginning to wonder whether Stoke's support would ever be united under Tony Pulis.
Last season's success was overshadowed by the ongoing pro versus anti debate, so I certainly wasn't expecting anything different this time around, particularly after such an uninspiring pre-season.
I'm usually pretty optimistic anyway, but I can't remember a time when so many of my usually cynical friends and family have been so excited by what's going on at the Brit. Even the message boards are full of happiness, for goodness sake.
And it's about time. We're in the top six, four points off the top two and haven't lost in a month. The last two games cost some fans £6, we've drawn Newcastle in the Cup, and we've finally signed Salif Diao.
For those not fortunate enough to have been witnessed the glory days of the 70s, this is as good as it's ever been. I'm one of those people and I can genuinely say I've never been so confident of us finally returning to the top flight, restoring some pride in our club and finally putting Stoke City on football's map.
We have one of the best goalkeepers around in Steve Simonsen, a flourishing defensive partnership in Ryan Shawcross and Leon Cort, the league's best holding midfielder in Diao and no lack of quality going forward with Liam Lawrence, Richard Cresswell and Ricardo Fuller. And let's not forget we still have a bit of cash to splash in January.
We do need to crack open the war chest because even Pulis has admitted we lack quality in midfield this season. However, Lawrence is in the best form of his Stoke career and Diao - Stoke's most important signing of my lifetime - should at least make it a half-complete jigsaw. Fill the remaining two midfield positions with similar quality and I'm sure we'll be cracking open the Champagne.
The best thing is that this school of thought isn't exclusive to so-called 'pro-Pulis' fans. In fact, the argument raging among fans at the moment is not whether we are good enough to make the top six, but whether we can go up automatically. And you know there's been a change of feeling when fans praise a good perf-ormance after a 0-0 home draw.
Perhaps I have misjudged it and there are still thousands awaiting our next defeat so they can jump on Pulis's back again. But it looks to me as though club and support are finally united ahead of what I'm positive will be a fantastic end to the season.

A pertinent article and I agree that a whiff of the feel good factor is creeping into the hearts of some of the doubters as well as many of the eternal optimists. BUT Stokies are nothing if not fickle. If we keep this run going into the New Year a band waggon effect will bring more optimists aboard but we all know that one bad game will produce a negative reaction amongst some of today's "converts". We are on the cusp - "there is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune ...................."

My head tells me that the idiots will be back when we suffer a defeat and I'm not naive enough to think the pro and anti argument is dead and buried.
But I've noticed a lot of doubters (both on here and people I know myself) seem prepared to at least give the benefit of the doubt. Many will never like him but whereas before they wanted him out immediately, they now want to see him given the season, for example.
Also, and what I am loving at the moment, is that both pro and antis are united in tipping us for good things. I'd expect in excess of 80% to back us for the top six if there were a poll taken today.
But like I said in my argument, I could be very wrong!!

you should of added "with this currant squad" because unless we do something in jan i feel we haven't got enough to see us through and well end up a nearly team again (just being realistic )

Big Al, LS1 did say "We do need to crack open the war chest because even Pulis has admitted we lack quality in midfield this season" so I reckon LS1 is as aware as all of us that the squad needs strengthening.

I take it you're referring to my poll and not my article as I did mention we need strengthening.
We definitely need to spend money - I think everyone would admit that.
But most people seem pretty confident of a fruitful January, I know I am!
Edit: Great minds Forny! For the record, I know it's Pulis' and not Pulis's, that's twice the Sentinel subs have changed that in my columns!!

the poll was set up because of the article in the sentinel and whether the fans split is disappearing into a minority. i believe that many fans like my self are waiting to see what happens in Jan on the pulis situation which is really what this is all about whether he has being doing his home work or is it going to be another "we've tried really hard nige but things just haven't fallen for use we just need that bit of luck and we'll get 7 in at the end of the week "etc etc etc

I've not been a Pulis fan myself, but starting to be won over. I'm sure that even those least willing to change their minds about Pulis may be thinking, at least we didn't get Bryan Robson etc.

If last year is anything to go by the hate squad will start claiming credit for the way the season has panned out.
You remember, hudson’s protest (that never happened), that nearly got us in to the play offs last season.
This year it will be their expert booing of only the manager and not the players against Plymouth that turned the season around.
Thank God for the hate squad.

Won over, this should of all been sorted out in the Summer. Still got a manager whose happy to go for a draw and a wins a bonus. Just shows how truly poor the division is again this year.

Haha but I love the Ant Pulis stuff! I agree anyway, he'll be a revelation with more time on the ball in the Prem I was going to suggest that he needed to move to Spain or Italy in order to fulfil his potential. Due to the Premiership becoming increasingly a place where strength is vital, I believe Ant will most probably the target of hard tackles, as teams will want to minimise the obvious threat he possesses. If the likes of Milan and Madrid aren't sniffing around at some time in his career, it will be a travesty.
