If we can get him for less than £2m - not sure about this 3m figure that's started to be bandied about by the local media though. Seems a really silly price. I suppose it depends how the deal is structured. If it was £2M down and £1M in add-ons depending on survival, clean sheets, etc., then that might seem more reasonable. A bit like the reported £2M + £2M for Kitson - I can see us trying to do a lot of those kinds of deals this season.

Jul 17 2008 by Chris Lepkowski, in Holland/Germany
ALBION are waiting for Scott Carson's final answer, according to Tony Mowbray. The Baggies lodged a £4million bid for the Liverpool player late last week, have already discussed terms with him and gave him the guided tour of the club earlier this week. Stoke City are also in the hunt although Tony Pulis is pushing the 22-year-old for a swift response, casting major doubt over their chances of signing him. The matter has been muddied even more amid reports that Blackburn are due to make an offer. Those are no more than speculative claims at this stage. Tony Mowbray, meanwhile, is philosophical and accepts that he may need to wait a little longer than he hoped. He remains relaxed and although the Albion boss gives little away in his comments there is still a significant and noticeable confidence within the club that Carson could yet join over the next few days. "I'd go down the road of saying nothing is done, nothing is agreed," said Mowbray. "We've had conversations but we cant say any more as it may come to nothing more - we don't know. "There is nothing to comment on at the moment. "We haven't set a timescale and we may hear no more about it. "Things will either move along or they won't " Mowbray is still planning to bring in other players. He has declined to name targets but one player who was immediately ruled out was Porto midfielder Przemyslaw Kazmierczak. The Birmingham Mail put the name to Mowbray earlier this week and he insisted there was no interest in the Pole. But the Albion boss is clearly still looking to bring in more players. "There are other things bubbling along and I've left that to the people back home," added Mowbray. "We are trying to strengthen different areas of the team and there are things going on behind the scene but these things take time. "We may know more in a week or two." Mowbray also denied reports that he had made an unsuccessful bid for Bolton's Abdoulaye Meite and also hit out at claims, made by the Trotters, which had linked the Baggies with the players. "There's nothing happening there," he added. "If comments have come out of Bolton then that's disappointing but it's just speculation and no more."

Sounds a little more relaxed than Tone's hurry up or we'll look elsewhere, maybe Tone knows that we are not leading the chase now...

If Mowbray feels that he can be relaxed in his quest for a keeper, then good luck to him.
However, if my only other option was Kiely, then I wouldn't be sitting around with my finger up my arse!

Cant see this deal happenin, however i would be chuffed if it did!
I reckon we'll see Fulop instead and judging by the way things are going cant really see the Kitson move comin off either!
There's still time though. In Pulis we trust!

I am the security officer at Middlesbrough's training ground and saw Scott Carson, James Harper and Jeremy Rothen this morning!!! Apparently Rothen wants to play with Digard again!

You do feel that Carson's agent has been playing the League newcomers like a couple of Stradivariuses.

This signing is crucial for us. Not only is he a very decent keeper but a high-profile signing like this would really tell our targets that we are serious about staying up. ;D i love looking back.
