I genuinely believe we have it, but how far will it go. We are are all talking about 2 or 3 players away from a good promotion chassing side. 4million could buy 2 or 3 players capable of paying in our division.
In January we already know that:- We are buying Cort in what is to believed to be around 1million, Pugh, I can't remember any figures but I seem to think half a million for some reason. Then if we also buy Shawcross which is what the general consensus is, he will cost around a million I would have thought. That leave sus with around 1 and half million. Cold we really get 2 or 3 players to make us those serious contenders for that price?

You need to take off the £500k we are (allegedly) going to receive from Palace for Hill. Whelan is worth less than he would otherwise be worth because he is in the last few months of his contract and no doubt there are other targets in a similar position. I've no idea how things will pan out but, if we do have decent money to spend, then we are in a healthy position compared to many other clubs. The other thing you have to consider is that some of the big spenders in this division seem to end up with very little for their money. Sheffield United spent a lot and don't look to have spent wisely and Wolves whilst they are in a good league position, have a poor goal scoring record considering what they spent on Eastwood. We have to try to be smarter with our spending - Diao on a free is a good start!

If the £1m for Quashie proves to be true then I think that might be all the money spent.

We don't actually KNOW it is £4 million do we. We were told that there was a budget for buying players during the summer (and we know that wasn't spent) and we were told that the money received for Higgy would also be available for players - so on the face of it the figure COULD be as high as £4 million.
As for wages there will, presumably, be a separate budget for wages (Coates seems to have budgeted for losses on the running costs this season as he did last season). On the face of it the wage budget should not have been exceeded (we still have a small squad) but what we don't know is how much agents' fees and loan costs have blown a hole in it.

Mr Fornside ...The figure of £4 million was mentioned in The Sun so it must be true.

Interesting that players like Eastwood (who is rapidly falling out of favour with everyone at Wolves by all accounts) and Billy Sharp, who many on here were hoping we would sign last summer have not really cut the mustard this season.

We would also have some more flexibility with loans should some of them become permanent, or some of them return. We could perhaps see 2-3 new loan signings added to the cause.

i just get that feeling that the 4million will be talked away as usual e.g
well we signed a guy for 200k then there was agents fees, dinner, bus fare, new jacket, his shirt printing, signing on fee, bought his nan a budgie, seed for the budgie so thats the 4 million spent.

I believe the 4 million was quoted as a PR exercise for fans following a unsuccessful spell trying to get players in. Can't see it being mentioned in Jan while we are searching again for players.
