South African Jacques Kallis today quoted that he thinks the winners of the England v South African series can go on and challenge Australia as the best side in the world
WTF
While they are a good side on there home soil, South Africa are no world beaters on their travels, and as for us, I think we are a country mile from being anywhere near the Aussies
Even without McGrath, Warne and Gilchrist, they have proven to be far better than anyone else, and look like staying at the top for a while IMO
In fact, I would go as far as saying that India are their nearest challengers
Thoughts

Get Flintoff back in the side pronto I say, we need someone who'll scare em
As for being the best in the world - Aussies followed by India, then a massive fucking gap..... SA.... England
But we do have a lot of talented players currently not in the side so heres hoping we can close the gap next year

I completely agree about bringing players back from injury too soon being a bad thing, but hes back from a crop of injuries now and playing for Lancs again regularly.
I think that it'd be better for England and Flintoff, having him playing maybe not a major role, but some kind of role , against SA.

I think England can help with the pressure though, playing him as well as Anderson, Broad, Sidders, Panesar to make up a 5 man attack, instead of sacrificing one of them - obviously then heaping pressure on him to deliver as a main bowler
I just think facing Steyn, Ntini, Nel, Morkle, Kallis ect will benefit him more as a recovering batsman, than it will leaving him in the wilderness for a bit facing county bowlers

Yes, Thursday at Lords I think we'll get turned over, if Im honest. Graham Smith scored 2 double hundreds during the last 3 tests he's played at Lords, which dosnt fill me with confidence knowing hes up against Mr Inconsistant Jimmy Anderson and baby faced Stuart Broad Unless Pietersen finds his mojo, I think it'll be a SA white wash

I dont understand cricket. Which is funny really as I used to go with a friend and keep score when I was a teenager........
But yes, Cricket and Tennis are lost on me. My husband thinks its funny that I completely understand football but cant get my head around tennis!

Then theres Boucher and the all rounders
Might escape with a draw if the weathers dodgy, but Id say they are favourites
