Looks to me, judging by many of the replies, that, sadly, there are a number of racists on this Board. You can bet that he'd have been allowed to stay if he'd been playing for Chelsea, Man Ure, etc.

Rebellious, you are probably right about the Bigger club syndrome, however I still feel that the home office would have still stated their intent in much the same way.
I dont agree with you with the "number of racists" remarks. To be honest, the rules are there for a reason and we should refer to them no matter what or else chaos would resume. If his temporary (4 year) "visa" is up then it has to be said that he must go back, as the original circumstances for his entry may have changed, otherwise you may as well let every tom dick and harry in no matter what the circumstances. That is why there is an appeal system so they can look at individual cases, which in this case may say that he could stay.
