My biggest gripe about yesterday, the second half we completely ignored Cresswell and played to many long balls forward, yet when we used him he had the beating of his man every time and as soon as we got the ball to him, we almost scored. I just wish we would use the width of the pitch more, it stretches opposition defences and creates space and chances to score. Though I think it spoke volumes that their keeper was in the game far more than Simo in fact he really had very little to do.
It did show that the Championship is wide open and if we can just get that bit of quality in the transfer window, this really is our opportunity. To make a challenge for the promised land.
I don’t think anyone expected a classic football game and they weren’t disappointed but considering we were playing supposedly on the record the best side in the Championship, thought we more than matched them and were actually the better side. There was a lot of high balls and some but not enough creative football off of those high balls, over all I thought we contained them well and should really have won it
Though I don’t see any outstanding side in this league, nobody seems to be stringing together a consistent run of games to take them clear, so it’s up to those at the club now to get it right in a few weeks and give us every chance of actually having that golden season we all want and dream about.
Though over all I was pretty pleased and I really think with some quality in the middle we can do it this year, it's really anyones league.

I think West Brom's quality will show in the second half of the season, and they will finish top, but second place is up for grabs, with yesterday's game demonstrating that "solid and direct" has been an effective formula for Watford so far.
As many have said, we're a midfield playmaker short of a promotion-challenging team, but clearly we need some depth in the squad to get us through to May. January is vital.

Agree with what's been said, I believe that any number of clubs could be in the final shake-up. Having watched Burnley win at the Wolves, playing some really attractive football, I certainly wouldn't rule them out for example.
So yes, we can make it but if we can get (a fit) Diao signed up, plus another couple in the areas where we are critically short at the moment, I honestly believe we do have a realistic chance.

Good post, Ted.
I reckon both 'rimmer's and 'anti's' alike wouldn't have expected us to be in this position at this time, especially following the farcical pre-season. Having said that, Pulis seems to have added some strength with the aquisitions of Cort and Pugh who are now beginning to settle into the team.
All we need now is what no1stokefan said in has last paragraph...a couple more decent signings and a fit Salif.
The side is blending together very well and if we continue in this vein, we will be the side the other sides won't want to be playing. I aint gonna go into the negatives but we should all remember that we've been here before. I hope, unlike before, we can take full advantage of what we've achieved up to date.
OS.
