Its approaching the festive period, although some strange folk have started early, they should have hard drives checked i reckon
Anyway i digress, the big guns will be dropped soon by tv channels for festive viewing
having said that Skys new Day of the Jackal is outstanding and i can highly recommend
any other suggestions of what to watch?

Game of opinions – I thought Day of the Jackal was bollocks and lasted 15 minutes. Spends ages to learn the mannerisms of the weird old cleaner to gain access to the target after all that effort rocks up with a new hold-all. Guard at the door comments on bag but does f**k all about it – guard at the top floor doesn’t register at all but spider senses presumably just tingle so he goes snooping causing the top assassin to randomly shoot everyone.
In order to escape he looks down at the pavement below where he sees police cars gathering and very few folk there. Chucks down a couple of smoke bombs which really just highlight where he is about to land then abseils onto an empty pavement.
Much preferred The Killer with Michael Fassbender.

I found The Killer extremely dull. Just watched a nice series on Netflix, A Man On The Inside with Ted Danson. It was maybe a bit twee and cute, but it was a very easy watch if you want something a bit different. Sad in parts too.

It's a really interesting concept and pretty funny. Unfortunately I fell asleep watching it one time and Netflix carried on so lost where I actually am - will need get back into it.

the best remakes of a film or tv have been when the original wasnt brilliant

I'm enjoying it, the script is clever, subtle and engaging. Agree that the use of black actors to play various real historical characters is unnecessary and absurd. Do the BBC think that if the Africans remade Zulu they would cast any white actors as Zulu leaders and black actors as Welsh Guardsmen ? And were Mark Rylance and Paul Whitehouse separated at birth ? I'd love to hear Rylance utter "int milk brilliant"

Wolf Hall excellent and oozes quality. As one reviewer put it - basically 6 hours of Mark Rylance having little chats, but totally absorbing.

Bit late to watching Hijack last week. Really enjoyed it, although it got slightly far fetched towards the end.
The omnipresent, omniscient bad guys sort of reminded me of some Spectre/James Bond bollocks, whereas before that all started I liked how Idris Elba's character was grounded and just a normal bloke, not some double hard bastard super agent. Still a really good watch and emotional at the end.
