My father Mick Sanders 80 passed away yesterday I am not very good at this but I will leave these two posts from The Corrs Sunday football league and Hem Heath CC to beautifully explain his devotion and total commitment to North Staffs sports. He also boxed, was brilliant at dominoes and won everything there was to win including national championships. One story (literally hundreds) regarding cricket is that when they had to move from the old Hem Heath colliery they had nowhere to go .Upon deciding to locate to the present site they had to have many meetings with St Modwen. One such encounter was with Sir Stanley Clarke, owner of St Modwen. My father shouted to him across a room and said Stan you and I need to talk now. After a heated hour or so meeting Stan came out the room and said to his staff ,give everything this man wants. The outcome of this was all of the Hem Heath club house ,ground and surrounding areas. With over 500 comments and posts since yesterday stands testament to the feelings in local sport Father of two with a grandchild and great grandson ,dad you will be sorely missed by all of us. RIP dad we love you.xx Corrs Sunday football league It’s with immense sadness and deep regret that we have to inform you of the passing of our Chairman and leader Michael Sanders. Mick was involved with this League as a player, Secretary and Referee before rising through the ranks to hold almost every role imaginable on the Committee in over 50 years. As Chairman his relationships with secretaries Bob Tatters and Andy Hill formed the cornerstone of the Ansells & Coors League for many many years and is responsible for getting the League to where it is today. Universally respected across the fields of football and cricket and he was also a long standing and much respected Council member at Staffordshire FA culminating in being awarded a life membership 3 years ago. Mick leaves a void that will be impossible to fill although of course we will try to continue to run the League the way he taught us and the way he would have wanted I personally will miss his mentorship and support and I’m certain I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support and belief in me. We pass on our deepest condolences to wife Ellen along with daughter Yvonne and son Adrian. They know we are here for them at this difficult time. RIP Mick Ian Hem Heath facebook It is with deep sadness we have to report the passing of our Chief Executive Michael Sanders . Mike has been part of our club 60 years , serving as Chairman for over 25 Years . Mick has dedicated his life to Hem Heath Cricket Club and if it wasn’t for him we would not be where we are now . Mick orchestrated the move from our Trentham Road ground to Trentham Lakes base . He Presented our Captain Greg Prime with our 2nd Premier League Trophy 🏆 in September which I know he was extremely proud to do so . He worked tirelessly for Sport across Stoke on Trent within Football serving the Staffs FA as a Player , Referee and Chairman . When he finished playing cricket he took up umpiring , which he did for over 30 Years . Mick will be sadly missed by us all .. RIP Mick ❤️🏏

RIP Mick, known him for many years, he was Chairman in the Ansells league when our team in Meir joined in 1978, I was 18. He was still involved when we hung our boots up in 2001/2. Always there for help and advice along with Dave Hosey and the Tatters family. A good man who did a lot for local footy and cricket.
