I’ve heard it said two or three times now by Chico Walters etc that we are top of.the running stats . This I find hard to fathom as for large parts of the chico reign to date we’ve been entrenched in our own half . Is there some guru in our ranks who can give a league table of miles/kilometres run to prove what they say ?

Heard similar rhetoric when Alex Neil came in. Something about double training sessions. As we know talk is cheap, we’ve heard it all before.

We have indeed, Portsmouth apart, spent most of the Chico reign entrenched in our own half. But perhaps not having much possession means MORE running? 🤔

Definitely the Middlesbrough game, that was shocking Sheffield United too but less so Other than can't say as we've been camped in our own half Home games we've looked a little better than usual imo Long way to go through

I appreciate that's not the same as being marooned in our own half although the two may be loosely connected.

We’ve Won 3, drawn 4 and lost 1, which means something. We’ve run quite a lot too, in both halves of the pitch. Hopefully we can build on this decent spell.

I’m all for it, but hardest running doesn’t necessarily mean fittest team. As has been eluded to, more running is needed when you don’t have the ball. Fitness is massively important, but as the old saying goes, ‘let the ball do the work’.

Which is a bit weird.

i think we are making steady progress with these in charge at the moment Correct, if we win against the side marooned at the bottom of the league at the weekend we will go into the top half and around 4 points off the play offs. That’s some achievement from where we were just a few weeks ago

Well yet another game in which we were entrenched in our own half defending the 18 yard box . So I continue to disbelieve we are top of the running stats . We are so passive. Don’t stop the crosses and rely on Viktor who has been unbelievable. I’d much prefer us 15 yards further up the pitch condense the play and press high . That’s been promise of virtually every manager we’ve had in the championship

We won’t be far off being top of the running stats, the fact that basically all our games are so end to end will make sure of that

It’s impossible for us to be top of the running statistics. You cannot defend with 10 players behind the ball defending your 18 yard box for 90% of the game and then be top of the running stats. Cannon yes the rest no
