The weather girl is saying we should get out our 'winter wardrobes' since there is an 'arctic blast' coming.
I am not sure if I have such a thing, but I love the dramatisation of the weather these days!

It gets colder towards the end of the year, who knew?🤷🏻‍♂️Snow bombs and arctic blasts among the favourite hyperbolic phrases used to describe a possible requirement for wearing long sleeves

I never get cold enough for a huge winter jacket, a thick pair of socks and a pair of gloves and jobs a good 'un. Maybe a woolly hat but then you're forced to keep it on all day if you have a decent head of hair otherwise you look like you've slept under a bush.......

I guess those tureens give off some heat.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cdxvdyzv5nvt150 schools closed today. So what do the children do? I went to school in Chesterton and Wolstanton during the 50s and 60s, I don't remember missing a day at school even when I was injured playing rugby. Both parents were working so I " had to go". I went every day during the big freeze of 1962. The schools never closed once in 13 years.

Ours closed once, early 70s I think, about 2 hours early, I battled my way home through snowdrifts, took me about an hour, then my mum sent me back out to pick my sister up from her school 🥶🤦

Storm Bert now!
I just learned from the weather girl that this is a 'multi hazard event'!
It's what we called 'bad weather' when I was growing up!

Drove back from The Lakes at 4am this morning attempting to beat the snow. Got to junction 36 in time and trundled down in the start of the storm.
I'm glad we took that opportunity, the roads were quiet but the motorway was atrocious to travel on. Got back about 6:30am, I'm not usually happy to get back to Stoke after being up there but for once I was pleased today.
The only snow we encountered was some turning to slush as we came around Talke roundabout on the A34 into 'castle.
I don't have to use the motorways much but Jesus Christ there are people with bigger bollocks and less brain cells than me driving full pelt in these conditions. They can't be sane individuals otherwise.

Currently in Edinburgh and it’s freezing, mind came well stocked with winter clothing.
Nightmare getting here as thrown off the Crewe to Edinburgh train yesterday at Carlisle due to technical problems and then told there’s a two carriage train soon to Newcastle get on that then catch a train to Edinburgh, horrible experience as people were allowed to insanely cram on the trains, couldn’t breathe as that tightly packed on.
At least we’re here and managed to get a few pints and food late last night
