I just love the Thai Green curry naked noodle pots. Have them 1-2 times a week.
With Soup I’ve always gone down the tomato route with grated cheese and bread but had an amazing wonton soup in a local Chinese a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone else got any recommendations?

Had a soup from Aldi the other day, cream of chicken and smoked bacon. I don’t know what dishwater tastes like but I imagine it to be similar. Most tinned soup is shite but I must admit I’m a sucker for a high quality french onion soup with a Gruyère crouton on top, lovely. Always abroad though, never found anywhere in this country that does a decent one, not that I’ve been looking.

Canned soups are pretty much salt in a tin and insanely expensive for what they are, homemade leek and potato is awesome with cob bread.

You won't beat Merchants 1688 in Lancaster for that, absolutely stunning wipes the floor with anywhere else.

The only really good ones are the more expensive plastic pot ones. Don’t do tinned, can’t stand the stuff. If I have one I tend to roast a load of tomatoes, peppers and a scotch bonnet then blend it all up. Bit spicy on the old anus on the way out but very easy to do.

Try making your own I am no chef but it is really easy, cheap, very satisfying, and you can make a lot of it.
Following a recent visit to Scotland I have started making Lentil soup. Delicious and also makes a beautiful creamy base For chicken Curry 😀

Besides soups, my ex used to make her own tommy sauce, relishes and mayo.......my god what a difference to the supermarket gunk/apology for tommy sauce and mayo...you can keep your Hellmans thanks !, PLUS if I asked her nicely she would do it to order according to what we would be eating.... slightly spicier tommy sauce for a BBQ for example..... Always looked forward to Mondays - this was soup day after the Sunday roast....nom nom nom !

Delicious and also makes a beautiful creamy base For chicken Curry 😀 Just chuck all left over potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts etc at end of week with onions, garlic & beef stock in saucepan. Simmer for 30 minutes blend, add a splash of Saricha and that’s it. For quickness though Batchelors Lemon & Thai Grass, cream of asparagus or caulflour & asparagus packet soup is pretty good. 3 boxes of 4 for 3 quid at Morrisons. Aldi do a decent thick tinned veg and beef, lamb or chicken for 99p. Tbh it’s a meal in itself with a bit of bread. We stock up our village food box with it and goes really quickly.
