Cost of living crisis , what crises …Hell of a lot of money going up in smokes , whistles and bangs by ours at the moment

Around 1st Nov on our estate as kids we would build a bloody big bonfire, old settees, would anything that would burn on a field in the middle. The local fire brigade would inspect it on the day and as there was no risk of it spreading allow us to light it. Loads of people and hardly any fireworks.

There's something primeval about the large bonfire, which was lit for the precursor to Halloween, in pagan days before Guy Fawkes.
Very Wicker Man-ish.
Fireworks are fluff in comparison.
