inews.co.uk/sport/football/stoke-city-doing-the-92-3352826(just a sample of the piece) 'It’s simply that Stoke City supporters can see their future played out on repeat but it reflects their recent past. It’s nothing against Pelach, but he is already being cast as an unwitting part of a wider malaise. A club that had everything going for it is now stuck in a desperate cycle. It used to be bristling in this stadium, during those afternoons and nights when the bigger boys came to town and tried to leave without their noses being bloodied. Nobody liked Stoke was the cliché, and they didn’t care one bit because they were too busy loving life'

The last few paragraphs are quite insightful - you definitely do find yourself taking a step back, pretending you care less , almost hoping that apathy sets in just so the whole experience isnt quite so painful.

I’d pretty much agree with all of that.

He's right isn't he. He has held a mirror up to our club and we can see ourselves reflected back. We are in a loop and maybe it might be a bit of luck and lot of hard work from a unified team that breaks it. Decent article.

Really good article, thanks for sharing!
For me it undersells the recruitment shift which I think is digging us out of a deep deep hole.
But close to the mark isn't it? Years ago I'd get up to watch 4 am games even if I had work on the weekend. No more.

"I went to Stoke City, to visit a club that you want to shake until they finally work out how to recover what they once had. The problem: it only gets harder and harder."
That's what she said.

All true. Speaks as if he has sat and witnessed the last 7 years personally. Don’t think any Stoke fan could have put it better themselves.
Hope JC reads this and has a good long think.

The trouble is, as a club we have no ethos. We don’t have a way of playing, a style nothing that defines us. It’s all well and good addressing the commercial side, of which the club is doing a very good job of IMO. On the pitch it’s a whole different story. Until that side is sorted I can’t see us getting back to the top half of the Championship never mind the Premier League.

Can’t disagree with much in it, but it’s long on diagnosis and short on prognosis- what we crave is a cure, even if it’s long cure!

Employing competent people rather than cheerleaders would be a start. Employing managers with experience would help. Recruiting the right mix of players would help. Playing the most promising youngster the club have had in years may help. It’s just shite from top to bottom.

The commercial side has improved a lot but it was starting from a very low bar! Many teams in this division have dedicated tv coverage of games where they have presenters and ex players as guests etc. Our internet tv coverage is very Mickey Mouse in comparison. Still feels like there is a long way to go on many fronts for this club.

I'd didn't agree with sacking Schumacher but it is what it is.
Like the article says, brick by brick. Now sick with Pelach
