He's confirmed his retirement. The only player to be awarded man of the match in a European Championship final, a Champions League final and a World Cup Final. That award can be misleading but it demonstrates his true brilliance. A hugely significant player in two truly great teams

Had that magic ability to look like he's got an extra second than everyone else around him on the pitch. The stuff you can't teach as the clichés say....

The Spanish Dean whitehead Eh? Difficult to imagine a less appropriate comparison. Yes, Whitehead was more versatile and could fill in at right back in emergencies, and was great at covering when Wilko went on a surging run. Iniesta did none of that shit. Plus Deano was better in the air.

So effortlessly dominant. That little drop of the shoulder and half-turn he could do to throw his markers off and put himself in space.
It always used to surprise me when people would elevate Xavi as the main star of that midfield.. not to suggest he wasn’t an incredible player as well but Iniesta always had that extra bit of magic to me.

Managed go see him the season he left Barca, Run the show in a 5-1 win against Villareal. Couldn't believe someone still doing that at his age then was being allowed to leave Barca.

For me Iniesta was a little better than Xavi, had better vision and was a slightly better passer. Messi rightly praises him for his role in his own success. Actually a Barca club member offered me either a Messi or an Iniesta signed shirt. Mine says 'To mi amigo in Maine, Andreas'. On my wall as we speak.

Never really understood why Iniesta and Xavi seemingly got equal public acclaim, Iniesta had so many more strings to his bow. Xavi was a great player, Iniesta was on another level.

Iniesta could also easily glide by players and was a great dribbler, something Xavi couldn't do.

Busquets gets overlooked as well. What a nightmare that midfield trio must have been to play against.

One of the greatest to ever play the game.
Made playing elite level football look about as difficult as a hungover Sunday afternoon wank.

I know he played further up front in his later Barca years, but when he first came into the team he was played in midfield.
