Stephen Schumaker isn't the only senior person at the Club to find himself unexpectedly sacked recently. Adrian Hurst, head of the Community Unit, who has worked for the club for decades has also left. Adrian was always very helpful to the Supporters Club, the FSA ( e.g with the My City; My shirt campaign), to myself personally and to Nello (who was also surprised and sorry to learn of his departure - those who have read the Marvellous book may recall that the two of them go back a long way).
During the TV coverage of the recent Hull game there was a film, which included a contribution from Jon Walters, about the excellent work done by the Community Unit, so Adrian must have got something right.
I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a statement from the Club or media coverage about his departure and his long service to the Club and the local community, so I suspect many supporters may be unaware. That's part of the reason for this post but the main one is to thank Adrian for his support and help over the years and to wish him well in his future career, whatever that is.

I would like to add my thanks to Adrian for the service he has put in - shame on you Jon walters & John Coates - Adrian was one of the good guys. Walters is sweeping clean & finding jobs for his mates. This is not the only Non Footballing area that he has been getting rid of some good people.

This position falls under Simon King, Chief Commercial Officer, I was informed that Adrian along with others in the department were escorted from the club - reason unknown but was advised it was Simon King’s doing and sounded as though it was for his own reasons? I cannot confirm this to be 100% correct because got hit 2-3 hand but have no doubt when received from the person who told me. You get the feeling that John Coates is empowering Simon King and Jon Walters to make their own decisions or he is rubber—stamping whatever decisions that each want to happens? Could be a good move but a high risk strategy if what appears to be happening is happening? Only time will tell but John Coates has his reputation in the hands of others it appears and both with more power than they have ever had previously and therefore with little track record at them levels. We as fans need to keep our fingers crossed that they have a) the ability and/or b)the luck to succeed.

Met him once and he was very helpful and was very accommodating despite having absolutely no need to be.
The exact sort of person you want to be employing.

What I did was to publicly thank Adrian for what he has done over a very extended period both individually and for the Club and local community and, given that there hasn't ( as far as I know) been any statement by the Club to that effect or even announcing his departure, to let other supporters know ( I didn't realise there has already been a thread on it).

That bit was probably poorly worded by me but I'm referring to how it's been done (No statement, thanks etc) rather than anything else.
