Reading the after match celebration thread got me thinking….
….what are your Oatcake ways?
Me = if we win or are playing well I’m on here a lot.
= if we lose or things are crap I avoid it.
So I guess I’m a fairweather Oatcaker. I make no apology for this. I’m miserable when we are shit and this board usually makes me more miserable.
So what are you? What are the other Oatcake types?

The first thing I want to do after we've lost is sort of forget it happened and get on with my weekend. I might re-watch the highlights to see what happened again, but that's about it.
Love talking about us when we've won or played well.

don’t get overly excited with a win , far too many false dawns over the years , by the same token don’t get overly worked up in defeat , obviously over the years things like relegations and the clubs previous precarious financial position have concerned me greatly.
Dislike the overly crude , negativity or the speed in which some posters turn against their club , manager or individual players , or indeed some at the games themselves , too many seem to take pleasure in our down fall, smacks of small time jealousy of anyone who’s paid more or have been more successful in their chosen field , rather than frustration or concern. Thats not what support’s about in my book .. but each to their own.
Gallows humour is fine ( compare pompey supporters the other night ) who generally stuck with their team despite an atrocious performance and defending from their team , and how some of our numbers would have acted both at the game and on here
I accept that some on here probably arnt Stoke fans , some have a message board persona different from the real world and others just like to wind people up

I identify as a stalker which in this day and age is allowed so I'm one who watches everyone's posts. Some more than others and if I take a dislike or like to them I post myself but only to either make them take a dislike to me or try to make them like me. All said in jest of course 😁 I come on here because I enjoy reading the funny posts posters often put on and it does cheer me up and in all honesty when I was in a bad way over the last few years this site was my only link to Stoke city other than watching us on the telly and did get me through some tough times.

I identify as a stalker which in this day and age is allowed so I'm one who watches everyone's posts. Some more than others and if I take a dislike or like to them I post myself but only to either make them take a dislike to me or try to make them like me. All said in jest of course 😁 I come on here because I enjoy reading the funny posts posters often put on and it does cheer me up and in all honesty when I was in a bad way over the last few years this site was my only link to Stoke city other than watching us on the telly and did get me through some tough times. After 75 years as a Stokie, I've seen it all before. I take it as it comes, love the wins, accept anything less, and keep on supporting those lads in red and white stripes, no matter what. I also back the manager, as the team and players are all one and the same to me, and owe us their best efforts.

I often think that about the negative ones but I'm always left feeling that I think they are upset because they want our club to do well and that is at the core of their negativity. It's not the easiest supporting Stoke and let's be honest it probably never will be but the times we have that inch of success and all the friendships we have forged through our love of those red and white shirts make it all worth it. That's my take on it anyway my friend. |

I like to post surrealist poetry on threads about praising the head coach. Or start discussions about quantum physics and the paranormal on football related threads. Occasionally I even give opinions about football. Or (try) to be funny or just plain daft. I do like the World of Twist stuff and I do like puns. I don't mind what opinions people have got, people can say what they want and long may it continue. I love all of you. After living in Wales since 1985 the Oatcake makes me feel still connected to home. And I really appreciate that.

I generally do fuck all at work, so the Oatie is an open tab on my laptop all day.
I read most threads (and EE) and post if I feel inclined.
I tend not to start threads in case no one bothers to join in, I am a man, I cannot take rejection.
I have very few friends in the real world.
I have BO and BB blocked, which is a gamechanger.
