I actually feel a bit for the players here. They're simply being asked to play a style of football that the vast majority of them simply don't have the technical ability to pull off. It's as stupid as playing the goalkeeper in midfield and expecting him to perform at the required level and not constantly give the ball away, get caught in possession and be positionally all over the place. They're being asked to do something they aren't capable of doing and this performance is the result.
I'm not giving the players a total pass. Some of them are simply not good enough and there are others who have the ability but I have question marks over either their fitness or attitude. I think any manager, even a sensible one would struggle to keep us up this season. But what Pelach is asking this group of players to do is just insane and they have no chance.

Johansson 6 - no idea if he's brilliant or completely useless.
Tchamadeu 3 - positionally dire
Bocat 4 - tough task against Doak, he wasn't up to it. Looks to have lost all confidence in the ball too.
Gibson 4 - hasn't improved us.
Wilmott 4 - can't be trusted to play the way the HC wants us to play
Thompson 3 - pointless. At some point will need to make a forward pass or turn with the ball.
Burger 3 - anonymous
Koumas 4 - offered nothing
Junho 5 - offered nothing, after early shot on break. But did at least have a shot
Cannon 3 - had 5 more touches than I did and I was in the stand.
Manhoeff 4 - makes the wrong choice too often.
Gallagher 4 - a presence at least but with a touch like Sam Vokes.
Moran 4 - very little impact. Nondescript footballer.
Sidibe 3 - culpable along with others in the second goal.
Vidigal 4 - looked like he'd not seen a football for several weeks.
Rose 4 - Comical incident with Viktor.
Pelach 2 - wrong team, wrong shape, wrong tactics, wrong substitutions, bizarre interview.

Pointless possession on the edge of our own box most the game, when pressed the ball ended up being booted upfield and not sticking. In the last 2 games we have managed to completely isolate the forward line and our two main attacking players this season (Koumas & Million) are having none of the ball in the attacking areas. Defending narrowly causing us issues down both flanks, defending deep and teams playing through us. We are basically playing attack v defence.

Gibson 4 very average. Expect better for an ex England intl. Not the leader I expected.

Thompson 3 invisible. A squad player at best.
Burger 4 What’s happened to him
Junho 4 Lost his confidence. I’d rest him
Koumas 4 Gone backwards
Cannon 3 I see nothing in him
Manhoef 5 Did his best but he’s one player
Moran 5 Thought he was ok but nothing more
Gallagher 6 at least he put himself about
Vidigal 6 Fair play decent cameo. Looked up for it
Rose 4 big mistake at the end
Sidibe 5 No worse than Burger and Thompson. Not a time for a youngster to come on
ref 2 - Poor performance. Didn’t cost us the game but gave them everything and was way to card happy

Vik 6 - bit shit for the first goal, but it could've been 5 or 6
Junior 3 - Bit off position, but better than the previous games
Wilmot 4 - ok today I thought, probs best of the (admittedly shit) defence
Gibson 3 - we thought we got a leader, we got a has-been
Bocat 2 - given the runaround by an 18 y.o. Awful game
Thompson 2 - lost the ball lots of times, too slow on the ball. Our worst today
Burger 3 - too slow on the ball, and his long passes were beyond poor
Bae 4 - a bit of technique, one nice run, probably our best outfield player
Koumas 4 - tried, poor passes, and wasn't helped by a really picky ref
Manhoef 3 - all the wrong choices all the time. His worst game for us
Cannon 3 - had to come down to 20 yards to even touch the ball. We should play without strikers, they're no use to NPs Stoke

This is my take also however I pointed out on the Pelach thread that under Schumacher despite our underwhelming start I never felt we were heading for relegation. We'll never know how the season would have panned out under him but we will certainly cement our place in the bottom 3 playing this drab. |
