Yes I did because on the face of it he was I've now watched him play first hand and I don't think he's good enough. He's slow, has a mistake in him and isn't any better than what we already had. What you have left out, although in fairness it may have been a few posts later I said in the summer that I'd be happy with Gibson on a free as long as we went out and spent good money on a younger, first choice centre half. Which we didn't. Granted we signed Phillips on loan but he's a risk given his age and lack of games, although he already looks like our best centre half but he isn't our player. I think most of us were pleased Gibson signed. Now we've seen him play, we're not so sure, and he doesn't seem anywhere close to the leader I thought he was going to be. Precisely mate but apparently we're not allowed to change our minds after actually watching a player.

Johansson Wilmot Philips Gibson Stevens Moran Seko JunHo Million Cannon Koumas Teams seem to be targeting the fullbacks so I'd look to just go solid there - really need a solid, experienced right back in the January window. I'd persevere with Cannon and concentrate on getting him some service rather than just keep on blaming the central striker for the lack of goals. If we are keeping possession from the back we need a deep playmaker in midfielder and on paper at least Seko seems to fit the bill. Onwards and upwards... That midfield looks scarily lightweight. Yes I agree but the solid options are Thompson (who doesn't add much spark) and Burger (who is out of form). I've tried to offset the lightweight midfield with a more solid defence and hope we get the ball quickly to the playmakers in midfield. Well that's the theory.... From what I can make out Portsmouth are quite a physical side. I can't see us competing by going head to head so may as well try to play to our strengths and use the ball players.

According to femark Gibson and Wilmot are excellent centre halves who are brilliant at playing out from the back because Gibson's played a lot of games in his career and Wilmot once had long hair. I'm saying that you don't play as many games as Gibson and get sold for £15m because you're shit. It baffles me that you can't see that? You seem to think that your opinion is more reliable than several professional football managers that have either bought him or played him consistently. Using a previous transfer fee to try and prove that a player isn't shit is just flawed logic. By that logic, Kevin Wimmer was the second coming of Baresi at £18mill.

I genuinely thought he'd be a decent signing for us, a proper leader and experienced calm head that we needed alongside the likes of Wilmot. What we've got is the complete opposite and he just isn't suited to what Pelach wants to do (that second part isn't his fault mind you but a result of the complete muddled strategy led by our glorious Sporting Director).

What’s even funnier/depressing depending on how you look at it, is that Gibson is being a massive advocate for Narcis and very likely had a role in identifying and recruiting him. It’s certainly coming across that way at least.

If Phillips is fit and through the concussion protocol then he'll be the one who replaces Gibson because there's absolutely no way he looks comfortable on the ball. But he cost £15mill about 6 years ago so what do I know?

I don’t believe he had any role in recruiting him whatsoever, surely if he did it would be the first player ever to have a hand in recruiting his own teams manager? It just can’t and wouldn’t have happened surely?

I get loads wrong but always try and give an honest appraisal of where things are. I thought Alex Neil was a superb appointment, for example!

Of course not However it seems highly probable that he's bigged Nsrcis up to Walters It's not Gibsons fault that Walters has ignored the paucity of Pelach CV and given him the job
