Are we the most miserable, whining, negative and depressing fans in England.
I ask because I’ve just read a thread with a prediction we will be lucky to get away with a 5-0 defeat next week. Another predicts relegation. Another that the new manager has less than 10 games to save his job. Another long standing thread asking if there are 3 worse teams than us which gets bumped to the top every time we lose a game.
There are numerous threads about individual players. A few weeks ago Bae was not for sale at any price and now he shouldn’t be starting. We should be telling Spurs to fuck off if they want Burger and now he can’t tackle or pass. We had a goalkeeping midget who was shit until the last two games. We’ve just sacked a manager who couldn’t pick the right team, couldn’t use his subs correctly and was tactically inept. Until of course we sacked him and now he was the man to turn things round and Walters has fucked us over.
I drink in a pub in Stafford where basically we are a laughing stock. Any non Stoke fan in there will say the same thing….. win a game and we are making the play offs, lose a game and we are getting relegated. Seriously embarrassing.
It wasn’t always like this. And we’ve watched plenty worse Shit than we watch now.

Booing at this young team and our brand new manager after one game isn’t great, what does it achieve?

Stoke fans are fickle. The song you only sing when you’re winning was made for us . With the exception of the first two years in the premiership when we were awesome the home fans are quiet for most of he match . Away fans ? That’s a different story . It’s part of the day to sing as loud as possible

I noticed early on last season that we were one of the weaker sides in the division, and we ended up in a genuine relegation battle. Early indications this season are that things are the no better, and arguably worse. It's a discussion forum. We all have eyes, I've watched enough football over the past however many years to know a shit team when I see one. And this is a shit team. Won't ever stop me from supporting them though - I'm disgusted at the past 8 seasons and really hope we can finally start to turn this ship around. I'd honestly be happy with 12th, that's how low the expectations are nowadays.

There'd have been riots at other clubs if supporters were subjected to the negligent mismanagement we've had to put up with for nigh on 8 years No we don’t. Division 1 is littered with clubs that have had a spell or two at the top level. The Championship has some massive clubs from cities much bigger than ours. Because of the Coates money we have a level of expectation above our historical record. Our fans seem to think there is an entitlement to being in the Premiership or top 6 at worst. Because we can summon the dong when required and we can poach managers from teams of our equal we expect. If we weren’t bankrolled by the Coates family our expectation level would drop through the floor. Someone said we have bought in 40 players in the last couple of years. I’d hazard a guess that 35+ were labeled as Shit within their first month. We’ve have now hired a coach who possibly could be a force in management in the next few years. Fuck me we’ve given him 2 days, one game and his team are booed and his Stoke expectancy is less than 10 days.

Some folk would do well to remember that it’s just a game. Support the team, be annoyed when we lose and be happy when we win. But either way, be proud of who you support but don’t let it consume your existence.

For someone with retro as their name, you don’t seem to know much about the history of the club. We have spent more years in the top flight than outside of it. We’ve spent more years up there than a lot of so called “bigger clubs” have too. It’s actually under the Coates ownership where our record suffers the most. But let’s not let facts get in the way of your happy clapping Coates rimming ay?

I think it is about 50-50 top flight football 1O years Pulis/Hughes 6 years when Durban/Barker 14 years in the Waddo era 14 years Bob McGory 17 counting the war Our current decline started about the time JC became involved am I right in thinking? Waddington and McGory both managed the club for 17 year or thereabouts In recent history our managers don't get 17 months. There's a case to be had to keep faith in a manager, unless it's plainly obvious we're heading for relegation.

I don’t know what our fans have to complain about really.
We’re lucky to still exist. If it wasn’t for the Coates’ we’d definitely find ourselves where Macclesfield are.
We’ve got one of the most promising head coaches, I mean who wouldn’t want a coach who’s only experience of management is relegation from the Spanish third tier. He’ll have learned from that and will know how to avoid it in the future.
We’ve survived Championship relegation battles for SIX years now, many other teams haven’t.
What more could any football fan ask for?

Fuck me we’ve given him 2 days, one game and his team are booed and his Stoke expectancy is less than 10 days. I think that that is part of the problem. For years we have been in a mess with no money to spend. MON finished in 14th place with 62 points. So when we got money to spend we expected to see an improvement. No matter how small it was it would have given hope for the future and show that we were making progress. Unfortunately it hasn't been visible yet. I felt that SS should have been given more time but still wish the new manager well. When he spends money in January, as he will, he will be the 3rd manager to have had a chance to spend money on players. Surely we must stumble on a few talented players at some point. I said at the start of the season that our defence was poor, our midfield non existant and the only bright spot was a forward that we didn't own. Our inability to address our deficiences in a methodical way is alarming. Instead of trying to fix everything in one fell swoop, can we not deal with one or two things at a time.We have had 4 windows ,with cash, so far, and should have at least 6 first choice players signed by now.
