CEEFAXUsed to be about the only way to follow football scores and transfers back in the day. With what's dished up now at Stoke it's a pity it's no longer an option

I remember flicking between each league’s live scores on the first Saturday after we got a TV with Ceefax until final score started and then I switched to that.

Didn't itv have a version called Oracle? Yeah. Seems it was replaced by Teletext. ITV and Channel Four used the largely similar Oracle system (often represented in uppercase), before it was replaced by the comparable Teletext platform at the start of 1993.By time the 4 or so live scores pages had cycled round we were 1-0 down!

Used to bag some great, cheap last minute holidays on ceefax. Once got a week in Corfu with all flights, transfers and accommodation for 90 quid but had to leave within two days notice. As Peter Kay once said " booked it,packed it,fucked off" 😁 Nothing like that these days.

Didn't itv have a version called Oracle? They did all 4 channels at the time had teletext. Always remember 888 for subtitles. How times have changed.

I used to like playing bamboozle on the channel 4 version. I found a way to cheat on that. You could always tell the correct answer by pressing each of the four colours separately. If I'm remembering right the three wrong answers would have a B on the end of the P number (below top left corner where it shows P12B). You'd then just leave the correct colour selected (the none B one) and wait for the numbers to scroll around to take you to the next page. Made me feel like some kind of computer hacking genius back in the 1994.

And the sport page always split in 2 on the TV screen, so if the Stoke score was on the second part of the list, when you refreshed the page you had to wait that extra few seconds for the second part of the page to come up, just to add to the tension.
At ten to five on a Saturday afternoon sitting with my fingers crossed, pressing paging backwards and forwards to refresh and hoping that they were just being slow at updating to show a late Stoke equaliser or wondering if the final score was ever going to come up if we were leading.

I was expecting to open this page to read that Israel have exploded Hezbollah's TV's as they were using CEEFAX to communicate after all other communication methods have been destroyed. Gouranga.

I remember the Teamtalk thing, tempting headlines trying to get you to ring up at ten quid a minute or summat.

Some things never change 😏 I always remember 312 as gossip and 324-329 as the tables - I thought 305 was usually our page for scores unless that was the previews. To be honest I'd still rather watch Ceefax than Soccer Saturday these days!

If a Test Match was on you could have the score in corner of the screen and carry on watching Tele.
